I've been throwing around the idea of a Captain Catherine Harcourt (Temeraire, by Naomi Novak) cosplay for a few months. Love the character to bits, and what isn't awesome about a dragon aviator in the Napoleonic wars?

My husband and I are working on costumes from The Dresden Files for Dragon*Con next year.

He's going as Harry Dresden, with the leather duster. He's hoping to do the embroidery/embellishment around the edge of the mantle once he gets it... We'll see how that goes.

I'm working on an interpretation of Queen Mab... I'm too tall to play Murphy, and Mab seems like an interesting challenge. There are several conflicting descriptions of her in the books, so right now I'm just researching and reading. And of course, any design is subject to change when the new book comes out in November.

Anna Karenina is kiiiiind of a long book, but for those of you who haven't read Madame Bovary, you definitely should! She's an adulterer in 19th century European society ... what more could you ask for?

More of a plot and a character I can simpathize with...I hate Madame Bovary. It's clear that the author I'd think much of women. I liked her about as much as Scarlet O'Hara. A character that the author herself admitted to hating.

I'm actually working on a cosplay for Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment (because I fecking love this character and all of his crazy), so knowing that there are other people who cosplay as book characters makes me very happy indeed.

Just found out there's going to be a 4th Witch and Wizard book, meaning I'll most likely be updating my Pearce cosplay since I've convinced myself he's going to make a comeback in book 4. If he doesn't, James Patterson can expect a very angry letter from an avid Pearce fangirl.

Awesome Would you use a hammer or an axe?! I'm a big fan of Seanchan styles (probably because they have so many distinct uniforms), especially my mental image of what the insect-like helmets look like, but realistically I'd cosplay Birgitte. I don't know if you are ever in the Georgia area but you could dress up for Jordancon!

I'm slowly reading through this awesome thread! I'm working on several costumes that are based on books. My 19 yo & I are going to WorldCon next Labor Day (it's actually LoneStarCon 3). We're working on Acorna for her and Cordelia Naismith (Vor series by Lois McMaster Bujold) & a herald costume from Mercedes Lackey if I have time.

Will you be using the Satyr legs where you walk around on your tip toes?

There's a couple of really good tutorials on making the hooves from boots. I'm planning on using parts of both tutorials, plus adding additional support for her feet, but yes, the plan is for her heel to no be touching the ground. If I had $300+ to drop on them, there's a seller that does custom shoes that have hooves & they look incredible.
