I'm planning on doing a Robin too (also Tim Drake) that's more of an amalgam of different costume styles. Currently undecided on whether the under-shirt and leggings/tights/trousers are going to be black or green, but I'm looking for something that looks "scaly" (part of my own design for the costume, I guess). I'll probably go for vinyl for the vest/tunic.

No clue what to go for with the utility belt though - vinyl again, perhaps? It's my first cosplay so it's all greek to me.

So I'm planning to cosplay Meryl from Trigun ( Reference Reference ) but since I'm very very new at making cosplays, I have no clue what fabric I should use. I'm only planning on making the cape-thing and the dress.

I was wondering what fabric should I use for the white hem, because it doesn't seem to be simple furry fabric but something...fuzzy/fluffly? xD I don't know if I explained well D: I also need advice for the belt material °^°

I'm designing and creating my own TARDIS dress from Doctor Who, based off of dresses common in the Civil War period and around the 1860's.

This is the basic sketch I've done.

I'm thinking of using a duchess satin for the dress, but I'd like to do the panels using the wrong side of the fabric vs the right side. Is there a noticable sheen difference between the sides? And would you recommend the fabric?

I'm working on a skirt for Red from RWBY, and I'm not quite sure what to use for both the outer skirt and the inner petticoat. Any suggestions for fabric for the shirt, corset, and cape would also be very much welcome! Here's a ref:

Both your pictures only really show a cape. I'd make the cape from trigger, gaberdine or a similar simple twill in a bottom weight fabric.

no satin, go taffeta if you want it dressy, but it really doesn't have to be. I'd use a very subtly printed fabric, calicos were very popular, and maybe even over-dye it to soften the color, that will give you a really good 1860's feel.

Almost people that made the plugsuit used enamel.
But I think leather is more suitable for the plugsuit than enamel.
How about you?
Which fabric should I use, enamel or leather, or another fubric?

I'm tackling Ulquiorra's final form from Bleach, I've got nearly every fabric worked out except the wings. They look like they'd be kinda bat-like so I'm thinking of something light with a leathery sort of look. I'm not too familiar with obscure fabrics so if anyone could suggest something, that would be really lovely ; u ; Thank you ^-^

Anyone have any idea what would be a good fabric for these overalls? I need a royal blue fabric, maybe twill or a polyester? I definitely don't want to use denim.
I particularly like the first cosplay that I linked, I can't tell what fabric they used though.

(sorry for irrelevancy to fabric) Also, I can't find thigh-highs with the black stripe at the top so I'm going to order some plain white ones. How should I put the black on it? ;w; Should I sew a strip of black fabric on the top or sharpie it?

Hello, Hello! :3 I'm gonna start working on a cosplay soon, and I wanted to try making this >.O I wanted to try making Nurse Valentine from Skull Girls <3 Since it seems pretty simple to make =3 I'm just not sure what to make her dress out of. I dunno if cotton would be good, or something else since its a nurse outfit? And does anyone have any suggestions what would be good for the little + crosses on her bandages and shirt? I was gonna do cardboard, but I don't think that would be very sturdy to hold up against it. And any reccomendations on how to make the cross stick to the bandages? Would you reccoming I use actual white cloth/bandages and then maybe stick the crosses to it?

On another note, I can't find any red contacts with crosses for the pupil anywhere. I found somewhere that'd make custom lenses, but they're like 2k per pair. >__< So plain red ones for alot cheaper would work out just fine, right?

That's suede leather, very worn and aged. Ultrasuede is a brand name of artificial suede that is a little (not a lot) cheaper than real leather, and easier to work with as it comes on a bolt like regular fabrics. Or you could look through workmans wear company catalogs/ sites and see if there is something suitable you can rough up to look right.
