Hey there!!

I'm looking to buy wigs to create a Marceline the Vampire Queen wig. I'm looking for a 60 inch wig and a 48 inch wig. Both black in color, straight.

Im a new cosplayer, and don't have the most money in the world. I would probably spend $100 at the most for making this wig. Are there any suggestions on how to make it? thanks!

Reference pictures would help a lot. If it's the character I think it is, she just has long black hair, right? In that case, I recommend one of these wigs in black: http://arda-wigs.com/pages/long. I like the Jareth long the best, and own one in black myself. It's quite thick and has the choppy layers thing going on.

If you're serious about wearing a 60 inch wig, be warned that it will most likely tangle. So use a detangling solution before you wear it any where. I hear Epic Cosplay's wigs are less tangle-prone, here's their 60 inch wig. Here's their 50 inch wig.

The only way to keep this project under $100 is to combine two shorter, less expensive wigs. Or one wig and one pack of wefts. Arda's long wefts are 36 inches, and cost $15 a pack. The final option is to find less expensive cosplay wigs on ebay, and combine the two that you need.

If you need tutorial, look up the process of cutting a wig (if using two) or adding wefts to a wig. Here's a tutorial for adding wefts.

As you can tell, her hair is usually very long. It's kind of scruffy/layered. I guess I'm trying to find a long wig that has versatility, especially because I want to hopefully use this wig for another character, Seraphim from Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka http://image.ohozaa.com/i/d46/04zombiesera.jpg

I was also thinking of maybe reusing the wig for another character, Seraphim from Kohe Wa ZOmbie Desu Ka, but I'm not sure if it would work...they have different bangs/layers: http://image.ohozaa.com/i/d46/04zombiesera.jpg not sure if that'll work out too well

If you reeeally want that length, be aware it will tangle very, VERY badly. That said, I recommend combining this: http://arda-wigs.com/products/delilah and this: http://arda-wigs.com/products/jareth-long to get the layers plus length. OR this from EpicCosplay and one of their shorter wigs. Personally, I don't like the looks of EpicCosplay wigs, but I hear they tangle a bit less.

Also note that you WILL NOT be able to use the same wig(s) for both those characters. High ponytail wigs like that require special styling to look right, usually involving a short wig and a clip on ponytail or lots of cutting and glue. A long wig can not just be pulled up into a ponytail, and a wig specially made for high ponytails will not look right hanging straight down.

Those wigs do look like they would work

I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to wigs, since I have never used on before. How would you recommend that I combine the two wigs? Thank you for the help!

There are a few different ways you could combine them. The easiest would be to cut the longer wig into wefts and sew them into the shorter wig to create the layered effect.

These three tutorials should give you a good idea of what to do. As long as you're good with hand-sewing, it shouldn't be a hard process even for a beginner. Plus, sewing them in like that gives you more control over where the thickness is and how the layers are set up. And if you mess up, you can just carefully use a seam-ripper to remove the stitches and try again. It MIGHT make the wig fairly heavy, but if it does you can just sew toupee clips into the mesh in front which should keep it from sliding around.

These look great, thank you so much! I wonder, would it be easier to cut the shorter wig and attach that to the longer one?

Hmm, I'm actually not sure. You want the longer layers on the bottom, so I'm not sure how that would work if the longer wig was used as the base. Unless you cut some of the longer wig to even out the layers, in which case it might work.
