I am excited I'm partaking in a cosplay group as Silica~ (We have a good little handful of the characters from the first season: Asuna, Kirito, Silica, Sachi, and Klein..maybe more but that's the ones we have that are at least 90% solid.) the only thing is that we won't actually debut our whole group until next AWA, which is just short of a year away. OTL I was thinking about doing it for Momocon (in March) since our Asuna was going to get her costume at Christmas, but I have found another costume I want to do then, so..maybe..
I'm also not really sure if I'll also try to be Asuna sometime in the future...I guess it decides with how my love for SAO in comparison to other series plays out.
This should be a fun costume, though..first (or second) female costume, I'm going to TRY to make her breastplate myself out of foam with the help of tutorials, and have either a big plush Pina or a moving one, depending on money and what I feel is better. I'm still super-excited for this.

no, but with the type of outfit it is, satin is the worst choice you can use. even cheap cotton would be bad.

twill or gabardine would be my suggestions and is what i'm going to suggest my boyfriend to buy for kirito and myself for asuna.

Yeah, never use satin. I've seen cosplays made with satin... not good. Unless it's a wedding dress then it's, at the very least, decent. I pretty much have everything in my Kirito cosplay done except the coat. I want to try and do a Lisbeth cosplay but I'm saving that for later.

not true. It really depends on what you're making. I've made a few kimonos made of bridal quality satin and that's fine. Same with dresses and some skirts. it's not acceptable for jackets though

OMG WE SO SHOULD!! But I mean, you are quite taller then me, but Oh well..I'm still in the middle of the series, so I want to at least finish it before I start anything. I stopped for the night..I'll finish watching it tomorrow I think.

I like that sword too. Those styles are my favorite.

EDIT 2:
Um..Am I missing something here..I watched episode 6 and he was wearing the coat and sword in the last picture I posted just above, then I go to episode 7 and now all a sudden he is wearing the outfit and sword that most people use in their cosplays..The black coat with the white outlines on it..Does he just randomly obtain that stuff in the middle of episodes 6 and 7?

Kleins Outfit near the middle-ish of the series looks pretty kool too..Like a time I can think of is say when they are all fighting the skeleton looking thing....But I'm about done with the series and I kinda like Kirito's Spriggan Fairy outfit from ALfheim Online game. Looks wicked kool.

I more like the wing aspect of his outfit. I wanna so those. I think black transparent acrylic would work..but yes his buster style sword is awesome. That would be super easy to make too
