So I want to cosplay as Garp from One Piece at Anime North 2013, but there's just one problem: This will be my first time every cosplaying let alone going to a convention. I know how to get the marine jacket and I'm sure I can get a fake goatee, but I would also like to make the dog mask he wears earlier in the series . Would anyone know what materials I will need for the mask and I should construct it? Or should I maybe just commission it?

For this I'd either reference the internet's faqs on puppet making (like muppets) or how the furry's make their costume heads (essentially the same thing as puppet method).

Essentially you'll be carving a kind of foam (typically polyfoam, but it's your preference) then covering it in a fabric, typically felt.
