Last film I watched was Berberian Sound Studio. I know what you're thinking, "Oh Ryan you're so up to date and on the pulse of mainstream cinema releases!" Hey it's just what I'm here to do.

This film was amazing though, not that you'll likely even be able to see it, at least not until DVD. But boy... for someone who loves film and the mechanics of cinema it was glorious. I mean you probably care less than me but seeing tape reels, hearing switches flick and thunk, reels slotting into machine, actually recognizing a specific sound recorder from the 60s... yeah it was my kind of film.

A horror film about making a horror film. Well recording the sound at least. You never see a wound or a corpse but you hear every single squicky gruey disgusting death you could imagine in a 70s low budget Italian horror film.

And it's fucking weird too. You know what if you liked the Club Silencio bit from Mulholland Drive you might like this film.

I am detached from the social dogma.

Nah that's bollocks.

But I mean chances of finding a British indie horror film in a cinema that first came out about 3 months ago, one would imagine, are slim.

Or just watch it online.

Rubber - A movie about a sentient car tire with telekinesis. Interesting idea, but so-so execution.

I believe it's on netflix.

I forgot about that movie, it isn't as interesting as it would sound.

Been watching a lot recently, I'll just go with the last three because I can't remember which I watched last.

Waxwork - it's awful.. It's about some needy group of highschoolers who go to a waxwork for shit-n-giggles. Each end up crossing velvet ropes to get a closer look at a specific set and end up getting stuck in that set.. only to die to become part of the set in order to open gates of hell. It really, really sucks, and isn't as interesting as I put it.

Re-animator - Just classic for me. Transferred med student (Jeffery Combs) discovered serum to rise the dead, but that never goes well. Great gorefest.

Lovely Molly - Done by the guy who did Blair Witch Project. Bigger budget, still a handy cam in it. It's about girl who gets haunted, to say the least, in her old childhood home. It's better then most recent horror films, but that isn't saying much. It's worth a watch if you like paranormal horrors. I liked it, but it's just too predictable, which was its main flaw.

The Cabin In The Woods - Not a big fan of Slasher/Horror in general, but the concept behind this one is great! And the ending, oh my!

The Man From Earth Everyone should watch that. Takes you on quite a journey.

Roman Holiday! Gotta respect the old Hollywood classics man. They just don't make women as classy as Audrey Hepburn or men as handsome and Gregory Peck anymore.

Chasing Ice. Fascinating and important subject matter. Documentary was average but contained beautiful photography and imagery.

The Black Cauldron - 3/5

I wanted to see the forgotten Disney movie. It wasn't great but not terrible either. It had pretty good animation for 1985.

Text in white for spoiler: I wish Gurgi stayed dead. He was pretty annoying through most of the film and his self-sacrifice redeemed him. I felt his resurrection cuts into that. Yeah, it's Disney but this film was already much darker than their usual stuff.
