I have 2 questions here.

One is what stitch(s) on a basics sewing machine should I used to sew a Jersey Knit T-shirt I need to make. I've never made one before and usually just modify ones I can buy locally instead but I'm using a custom fabric for this shirt this time around and need to make it from scratch.


My secound issue is I'll be sewing a pair of Nylon tights to make arm gloves and need to sew the fingers into them. Why type of hand stitch should I use to make sure they are secured and slightly stretch. I know to use clear polish to stop any frying but I want to have sure the stitch will work.

I would use a Zigzag stitch, set on 8-10 stitches per inch and 3.5 width, but that can vary by machine I've used a zigzag instead of a serger on so many things from a superhero body suit to shirts to dresses, so it should work great

Serger would be nice to have one day.

Any thoughts on Nylon tights?

I have experience with sewing through tights and I would just personally go with a bit of a heavier knit if you want it to last more than 1-2 photoshoots. I modified some heavier weight thigh high stocking and when they split...ohhh man.

I'm doing this method as i don't want seams, but the stitch she using is a rather loose one.

I also bought the nylon tights I'm using for this.

If you decide to go her route, I would coat around the seam with nailpolish to ban the stockings from even thinking of ripping, and i think hers lasted longer because the paint might have helped to keep the stockings from getting staticky to other things

Yes planing to "fray check" the nylon with nail polish.
