Red contacts over blue eyes

Hi, guys - I was wondering if anyone here had some recommendations for red contact lenses that would work well over blue eyes. I've read the FAQs, reviews, and have been looking at two types that seem bright enough: Dolly+ Red and Super Pinky Bright Red. The only problem is that the pupil hole looks pretty big: in several of the review pictures, you can see the wearer's lighter iris right through them.

Have any blue-eyed cosplayers here had any luck using red lenses? Alternatively, does anyone have a suggestion for reasonably priced (<$45) red contacts with a smaller pupil hole? To make things more difficult, I unfortunately need things in a pretty high prescription (5.0), and the non-circle lenses I've looked at have either been too unnatural-looking, crazy expensive, or both. Alternatively, has anyone worn a pair of non-circle lenses in red that they've been happy with?

ETA: I've been looking at i.Fairy Cherry / Candy Soul as well, but unfortunately there aren't a lot of reviews out there.

The smaller pupil hole will cover most of the blue to the pink you will see a red haze around the perimeter of your vision. Most contact do have a slight inner rim exposed but it's much less notice then the big contact version made for dark/black eyes.

These are more of a "natural" red.

And these will be brighter in photos.
And this will be brighter.http://www.pinkyparadise.com/GEO_Ani...p/a13-sf20.htm

I would love to wear those GEO SF20s actually... but I'm blind as all hell in plano. ^^; Small pupil holes are fine by me even if they show a tiny sliver of blue (for instance, I've worn Dollyeye before and they worked great!) But in google searching customer reviews, so many of the red lenses seem to have extra large holes that show a huge swath of color that imo is really strange looking due to the high contrast between the red and the blue. I'd be happy to deal with a little bit of color haze, so long as my pictures turn out nicely.

I own the Dolly+ Red. I don't have brown eyes, but I have very Light Brown eyes, and they looked amazing and didn't show my pupil..They also are wonderful in photos. It is a very intense red, so if that is what you are going for...Also they kindof look a little "monster-ish" if you skip makeup..

Blue eyes have more choices in contacts because of how much easier it to change the color of your eyes (Lets say from like, blue to green rather than brown to green.) The Super Pinky Bright Red apparently has a small pupil and sometimes you can see a little red, but showing a little bit of your blue eye is inevitable.

I understand it's hard to get prescription lenses.

These ones are really good and stand out nicely.

I had the same problem! (And oddly enough, almost the same exact tastes in styles as you.) I eventually went with the Super Pinky Bright Red and I'm very satisfied. The blue's not noticeable unless you're really close to my face, they look weirdly natural (for red eyes anyway), and they're very comfortable, although they bother me a bit when I first put them in.

Supporting Rurouni-Idoru. My eyes are grey, not blue, but I also bought the Super Pinky Bright Red, and they're great. From a distance, the tiny bit of extra colour just looks like part of your pupil, and someone would have to be way up in your face to actually see "hey, you have blue eyes."

@TenTigerLilies - that's great to know! Do you find the Super Pinkies to be a bright enough red? I think I've confused myself by looking at so many reviews; in some of them they're a beautiful, bold red color, but in some they almost look a little light pinkish, if that makes sense.

@Ani_BEE - thank you for the links; I'll definitely check those out!

I've been looking for red contacts too and having the same thoughts.. been considering Super Pinky Bright Red for some time but I'd love to see more (close-up) examples of blue/gray eyed people wearing them so if anyone here have photos to show it would be super helpful!

I agree with this. This is actually one of my main concerns when looking for colored contacts. Big holes look fine on brown eyes but on blue/gray/green eyes it just looks very.. odd.

I really loved these. http://www.speciallens.com/products/...ct-Lenses.html

They go all the way up to +10, and I never had any issues with any color peeking out through the pupil holes.

I wore them with my Black Lady cosplay, if you want to see what they look like on someone with blue eyes.
