Hey guys. I'm just passing this on. Worbla, (that material you see all the german cosplayers making their armor out of), is now available at Cosplay Supplies, so we wont' be getting killed on the duty, shipping & taxes. I hope to have some at the next Anime North for people to see, and there are plans for a worbla workshop at Costume-Con 32. Cheers! An example of armor being made from wonderflex and worbla by Kamui. ![]()

OMG, how have I not heard of this stuff before? I read the description on Cosplay Supplies and it sounds *amazing*.
At Anime North will you have it at the Costume-Con table? Count me in as someone who'd love to see it in person ![]() EDIT - There are more pics of the other armour pieces here. The results are truly stunning - now I'm REALLY intrigued!! ![]() Last edited by Prisca712 : 12-18-2012 at 04:14 PM. |

Ooh, this is great news! I'll make sure I make a note of that workshop, I've been curious about Worbola for a long time. P=

looking at Kamui progress it take really well to bell curves because of the lack of mesh backing. O__O

Cool that she pads the Worbla with a layer a of foam sandwiched in the middle. ![]() I wonder if you can get Worbla to fuse to Wonderflex for pieced you need to make stronger in certain areas? I need something strong for Nehelinia plated beads but I might order a sheet of this to see if I can make a necklace and elongated earring for Venus out of and fuse in the leaves that i wasn't sure what to make out of. ^_^

this looks like it would be super useful for my sword sheaths I need to make for AN... and the armor I need for Vladcard and lots of other people...
Its kinda pricey but... perhaps much worth it! Does anyone know what kind of device you need to heat it up? obviously a regular hair dryer wouldn't get to 90degrees, right?

If you need to make sword sheath I think you'd be better off chiseling out 2 pieces of wood and then gluing them together if you're comfortable with that.

why would I do that? my friend is making the swords, but she is making about 15 weapons for AN, so we're making the sheaths... why would we make them out of wood? I don't see how that would be any different then forming something around the sword and just leaving room for it to slide in and out...seems a heck of a lot easier to me...

I think the best way to heat it up is a heat gun; a hairdryer probably doesn't get hot enough.
