Suggestions/help on a certain prop
I'm trying to 100% my Xerxes Break [Pandora Hearts] cosplay but I'm missing the cane sword. I have a stick long and skinny enough [without breaking on its own] but I need to build its shelth[sp?]. I want it to be sturdy enough so the case can stay strong without the 'sword' in it to hold it together. Any suggestion on materials to use? be wary, I have a very limited budget so I cant go overboard with supplies.

One option would be to go to your local hardware store and find a diameter of PVC pipe or even metal tubing that will snugly encase your sword. Then you could go about decorating the sheath with a simple paint job or if you would prefer, covering it with a wrap or even craft foam. Though the craft foam may end up being a bit more trouble than required. I'm not intimately familiar with the sheath's look and a quick search didn't find many good references.
All told, assuming the sheath is rather simply decorated, you may be able to complete the build with $10 US. |

are there any alternate idea just in case since I never used a PVC pipe or metal tubing before and I dont want to be spending more money than what I can for the casing. btw, the stick that is gonna be the sword is about 3/8 diameter and it'll be possible 2.75 to 3 feet long - might reduce sizing of sword for the case.

PVC is just about as cheap as you can possibly get for something of this nature, unless you go with something like a cardboard tube out of the center of some holiday wrapping paper.

Yep. A 10ft piece of pvc usually is only a few bucks, if that much at all. The downside is getting a 10ft plastic pip home, but you can usually find a self-service cutting cart in the molding aisle of Home Depot or Lowes, and you can cut the pipe yourself to a more manageable size. Obviously, keep both/all pieces of the pipe, since you have to pay for them anyway.
