So I saw a really awesome Locke at MAGfest, and now I'm starting to think about putting together an Edgar cosplay. I had always been intimidated by FFVI cosplay, as everyone's costume is so vague and complex and Amano-y, but his suggestion was to instead focus on capturing the spirit of Amano's art by combining many different patterns and textures. His results came through quite well, and I might give it a shot with edgar.

@ Loveable-Eve: Thanks and welcome! I would love to see you and your friend do Edge and Edward! That would be awesome! I hope you are able to convince your friend to participate. :P

@ MetalArtisan: That would be awesome to see you do Edgar. FF6 needs more love. I made an Edgar and Sabin for my group and what I ended up doing was combining my favorite aspects of the different versions. It takes a while to really decide what you want to use and what you want to ignore, but the result is usually a unique costume that still looks like its original design. Good luck to you.

@Seifer: Your welcome. I gave her my copy of 4 and hopefully she likes it. From what I've told her of Edge she likes him. I hope we can run into a Rydia for her to hit on.

@Metal Artisan: Just remember that Cosplay is an art form. You don't have to follow the immage exactly, it's your vision that matters! Unique costumes stand out much more and make them your own.

I saw you at your table at Magfest. I think you'd make a great Edgar.

@ Loveable-Eve: Well so far it sounds like your plan is working. I am sure you won't have a tough time finding a Rydia. I see her cosplayed quite a bit. If you are worried about finding one you could always write in the thread of the convention that you are going to that you are looking for a Rydia cosplayer to be apart of your group.

Okay so it's not my wig, but its a WIP of Rydia from Wednesday. I actually have a lot more of her done now!

I now have three capes finished, the bodysuit is 100% now that I've added jewels, the corset is put together (just needs jewels and some applique), the hairpiece is started... tomorrow hopefully I can make the pauldrons and put the capes to the back of the bodysuit~

@ MDA: I agree with everyone else, that lace is just lovely and so fitting for Rydia.

It looks like everything is coming together nicely.

Whoo! Got a new one!

This is my Heavy Metal Black Mage, taken at Ohayocon. I had this costume for all of one day, and then sold the coat the next.
Anyway, I super-loved the way the color turned out on the coat, along with the overall look of the face.
It was an absurdly hot costume, especially in a convention center crammed with thousands and thousands of people. I might try and find a lighter weight mask for the future. It's a little hard to see because of the shadow cast by the hat, but the goggles are yellow-lensed to represent the glowing yellow eyes.
So yeah. I now need to remake the coat for red mage (along with new plans for a fancy vest and shirt), coat for black mage, and the arm and shinguards for fighter (sold those, too :P). And possibly all of black belt because I'm just not very happy with the way the initial version looked.
It's kind of fun, continually selling and remaking the same set of costumes. It gives it a sense of progress.
On the upside, I finally have a vision in mind for Thief and White Mage! I'm not sure which I'll do first, but they'll both be set into motion soon.
