I believe there was a thread about this a year or so ago but since cosplay.com changed the search and there are weird adds on the side, I can't find this thread anymore.

I know for a lot of cosplay costumes on ebay and such, sellers use this gold trim/pvc type material. I know that it is sold over seas but does anyone know of a shop that sells to the US the gold trim?

I know I can just make it but it is rather a pain to cut then to the bias tape steps to make it. I also know there is a gold bias tape out there but it looks like it was attacked by a cat.

I believe from my experience of seeing this trim, it's really just gold pvc thats lightweight enough or has enough natural stretch to go around edges. I've seen both folded over edges or clean edged and also unfinished edge or cut into strips and sewn on cause it's easy to do...etc.

I've only ever seen anything similar at Joann's in their trim section, it's like a gold belting...but it's already glued down, you could try cutting it in half to see if it is useful in any smaller pieces.

I have some of that gold belting fabric and it is very stiff. There is not stretch at all to it. I have seen that type of gold pvc trim before in China but I can't find it here in the states or online. I think once I saw it on sale on the website alibaba? but that site sorta worry's me to buy from.

Oh! that one from MJ trim looks nice. I think wrights should make a gold trim that does not look like a cat got to it. A lot of cosplayers would like metallic trims I think.

I personally use the needle pin down method for making smaller tape.

The wide stuff that is double sided i to it manually by ironing it in half then ironing it inwards. So for 2" wide tap i cut 4" wide strips and hold in a 1/2" on both sides.

For PVC or Metallic Spandex Fabric instead of ironing directly you want a piece of fabric to iron over the PVC that has been folded so that you only steaming the PVC with heat.

Also in the case of spandex you won't need to cut it on a bias as it's already has a lot of stretch in the fabric.

@ani_bee: I have see the lame one but it really looks like a cat got to it IMO. I have made bias tape before but I have seen this type of bias tape before in China only. Which it seems like everything that cosplayers need is in China lol. I know making the bias tape is easy once you get started but it is just time consuming.
