I know. Everytime I think that people are sensible enough to let it die, it gets dredged back up and I feel compelled to point out AGAIN the difference between stating one's opinion and being obnoxiously judgemental.

In your own words, NO. You do not get to tell people what to do. And while legally you have the right to tell someone that their costume is unflattering, unless your opinion has been specifically solicited, only a jerk would tell someone that they look bad. However I do agree that people should learn how to deal with criticism of all kinds. Because, as evidenced by this thead, clearly the world is full of people who behave like jerks.

@The Hag, you're right, I was referring to when someone posts pictures asking for critique for the costume; I forgot to make it explicit because I was focusing on finding the right words, my bad.

I won't absolutely do that in public or about a photo who doesn't explicitly request critique. Especially not if the picture has been uploaded in a place that the person(s) in it doesn't visit, by someone else. That's beyond rude.

About the genderbent characters: I'm always curious to know why someone would do it and reading the discussions here often I find interesting explanations. I don't "get" it, rather than get annoyed by it.

I just type in the emotion I want to convey with 'gif' at the end. Example:

laughing gif

mad gif
and for something that might be more obscure;

unamused gif

abandon thread gif

I am just (usually) searching for gif images based on a particular emotion or feeling but sometimes there's a specific series I know there's a scene I want to post and if it's popular, like say....Spongebob, I can usually find what I am looking for.

Say I want to find the gif of Spongebob peering out his window, as a response to a few folks talking about meeting up at a convention and I am trying to express jealousy about not being able to go. I'd go to google and search 'spongebob hide gif' and I get these results.

Under the images break I can see the one I want to use is the first on the left, so I'd click that> full size image> copy the gif link and BOOM now I can convey my amusing jealousy;



Or I can click through the search result links and find something there. Most of the time I can find something on tumblr because it's basically Gif Capitol of the world. For a while I actually thought tumblr was a gif website...and I am not sure that I was wrong
