Help with Costume
I have made a crop top for my upcoming (and first) Cosplay but there is an issue. On one side where I have sewn the fabric, it has pulled apart at the base and top of the stitching. Should I add a zip or something?
Help is much appreciated! |

It sounds like you didn't backstitch at the beginning and end of your seam. You need to backstitch to prevent the stitches from coming apart.

Thank you! I went back and re-sewed it, now it fits and won't come apart when I take it off.

If you want extra strenght and are machine-stitching, secure the backstitch with a knot (but be sure that the fabric is sturdy enough)

Also, you said it was a "Crop top" is it a knit? If it's a knit you could also sew a small zigzag stitch in lieu of a straight stitch, sometimes the straight stitches can pop if you pull it on or make it too tight.
