The two new legendaries now have names. The multi-antlered deer is Xerneas (pronounced ZURR-KNEE-US) and the red glowy bird thing is Yveltal (EE-VELL-TALL).

Not sure what to make of them so far, but Yveltal sounds a hell of a lot like a portmanteau of "Eiffel Tower", which makes sense since the game's region is apparently based off of France.

To be fair they have a disclaimer saying some designs are not finalized so that might just be a prototype of the male protagonist.

I'm suddenly very happy I now have the 3DS for Christmas that I didn't ask for. They finally gave me something I've been asking for since Gen IV: FULL 3D BATTLES! I wish the starters weren't so bland looking, but after 15+ years and over 700+ Mons I'll cut them some slack.

I can't wait.

Now that I am going to be a 3DS owner tomorrow, I am secretly 200% more excited for this game.

That said, I bought myself SoulSilver a couple of years back and barely got further than like the 3rd gym. Before that, I played Diamond, and similarly didn't get too far. The last Pokemon game I actually finished might just have been the original Silver. So I'm basically being overly optimistic! Dunno if the changes in this one will be enough to inspire me to finish a Pokemon game again. I want to love them!!

Even though I completely made fun of the names and called them Pokemon Chromosomes or Pokemon Woman and Man, I'm still actually really excited for the games and will be picking it up day 1.
