Need Help With Wings

HI
So i have been going to anime conventions for years, but this is my first time cosplaying. I picked Hawkgirl from DC because she is awesome and I love a challenge. I just have no idea how to make her wings, should I use feathers, paper, felt or foam????? I am so lost, I have no idea where to start. Can some one please help me out?????

Here are what the wings look like

There are loads of wing tutorials online; the forums themselves have a few as well:

It all depends on the look you're going for and what you want out of them. Do you want realistic wings? Maybe feathers are the best choice. Or maybe you want to emulate the flat, cartoon look? Foam might work better. I don't recommend paper wings, as the material itself is flimsy and easily ripped or damaged.

I think the biggest concern you should have is how you'll attach the wings. DCAU Hawkgirl has a strapless top, so there's not much to conceal an over-the-shoulder harness. I think figuring out how to mount your wings would be the most important obstacle, you can figure out the style of wings later once you have a framework.

Does it have to specifically that version of her. On the page itself, there's an image of her wearing something that covers her shoulders. Otherwise, you'll have to use a customized corset with metal boning as the harness.

I'd strongly recommend going with felt or muslin so that you'll have a lot to work with and it's more economical.

If your shoulders/upper back can be covered a clavicle brace (found in most medical supply stores) works well for a good base to work on.

Wow, that is useful! Now that I know it exists, I'll have to experiment with it!
