Learn Dances to lose weight?
Every year before Toracon (@ RIT, Rochester, NY) I try to learn some popular dances to do with random people through out the con. I haven't tried doing them religiously though. I was wondering, dose anybody learn anime dances to lose weight? And is it effective?
Dances I've learned: -Love & Joy -Happy Sythesizer -Hare Hare Yukai -Matryoshka (In progress) |

I know not about the anime ones but some of the high energy dances would burn off fat and leave you feeling good. dancing is always a good thing

I don't rely on dances as my only form of exercise, but I practice a couple different routines every other night as part of my cardio workout.
I usually pick choreo from one of my favorite MVs or stage performances. And it's really, really fun~

I have been wanting to religiously teach myself the entire Hare Hare Yukai since I need to try and turn this skinny-ness into muscle. However, I lack all motivation.
And while this isn't anime related dancing, I occasionally do Jumpstyle workouts and that proves to be very moving for me.

I incorporate Korean pop dance routines as a 2-3x a week additional exercise and have felt that it helps keep my main exercise routine from getting dull. I also try to pick up a new dance every month if I can.
I would recommend it, it's quite fun! ![]() |

While dancing is a very great way to lose weight and gain muscle, I would recommend changing up the routine a bit to ensure constant results. Once you get into a swing of something and you continue doing it, your body gets used to it therefore progress is slowed. When you're about to dance, I would try putting weight bracelets on your legs and or wrists, or maybe holding 2-5 pound dumbbells to help enhance your arm muscles :>.

Just Dance 4 has a workout mode. Or you could always dance along to youtube videos, but then you don't really know how well you are doing.

I used to play DDR all the time, and then my mat broke. In the past I was talking Ballet classes as well so I was in shape, but it didn't give me muscles. Dancing is a good way to burn calories, a good cardio workout and a fun way to get your body moving.
Now I try to do the Bad Apple dance whenever I can. It's fast and rather intense. It will make me feel cool in my Touhou costumes as well. Start out simple it you are out of shape, like twice a day and then do more for longer periods of time.

I have a fitocracy account, so I made myself a playlist on youtube with all the kpop and parapara I know. I'm still missing songs and adding as I go, and I'm already over 1.5 hours! I also have a list of dances that I want to learn, so I can find tuts online and cross them off my list as I go. ^^
