Hello there.

I am planning to cosplay Guan Ping from Dynasty Warriors 7, and I need help with the construction of his weapon.

I have calculated that the entire whole sword would be from the length of the ground to my nose, and the bigger part of the sword itself would be around 120cm (which is why I would want it to be taken apart so the whole thing would not total to 155cm). I'm planning to use crafting foam for the details, but unsure as to how many pounds of plaster or mold I need to make that sword blade. Any help would be appreciated.

the best way to make it colapsable is by having the handle and the sword blade separate.... however looking at the design it doesnt look like its gonna make that much of a difference....

I do plan on doing that; however, I'm more concerned for the blade part, as I'm uncertain whether it would be allowed into the plane or whether it would be too big for it. I do want the blade part mostly to be reassembled. I see that I have stated (not so clearly) that the blade part altogether would be 110cm, though I'm looking for methods to make it constructable.

Shipping won't work, for just by shipping this to and fro another country, it'd be enough to make another one, which is why I want it to be reassembled.

I'm open for more suggestions though.

so looking again at the image, the only way to separate the blade w/o there being a super noticable line is to break it at the point where there is the black and silver. to do that i would build a groove into the black part and have a lip that same size on the silver so u can just slide it in.

I wish I could offer help with this in some what. I just want to give you a high five for doing this cosplay. I am a big DW fan myself.

The only thing I can think of to make the splitting less noticable than cutting the sword in half somewhere around the middle and still make it shorter than it will be when just removing the handle is to split it in 3 parts. The edge of the sword at the border between metal and black. And then you split the black and gold part in 2 wherever you find the split to be the least noticable.Then the longest part should be the metal colored part.

I would do it like drawn in the attached file. The solid red and yellow line.

If you want it in 4 parts then you can make it so you can remove the handle too.
To make all the parts stick together again without coming apart when u move it I would build dowels along the metal looking part that can slide in to holes on the black part then lock them together with a peg. Same with the other two parts.

This is the best I can come up with at the moment.
