Slowly but somewhat-progress on Quorra today. I SHOULD have her torso armour, sans lighting, sewn up by the end of the week. I hope I can press out the side stretch pleather a bit. I sewed seams into the two layers of it and flipped it inside out (I both didn't want to show topstitching and don't have a foot for topstitching pleather on my machine), and now it looks poofy/not flat. My biggest worry is the lighting. My boyfriend's obviously helping me with the LED strips, snap connectors, etc., but I'm not going to know how I can attach the LED strips to the armour until I see them myself, I'm going to have to put a diffusing material overtop, annnnd I need to figure out how I'm supposed to get into the torso portion of the suit when I have lights around my hips, front and back and pulling it over my head is damn hard. I think I'm going to have to make two halves of one hip's circuit and with an inch or two where i can put my fasteners in place. Or velcro on a piece I can put on after getting the main one on. ARGH.

But just to let you all know so far Friday seems to be winning the 'when will we have the shoot' game.

Got started on Quorra's boots today. URGH. I wish I'd had a teeny-tiny hole punch. She has these small holes in the "flap" parts of the boots, annnd my smallest leather punch was wayyyy too big. Instead I spent two hours using my Dad's old circuit tester to poke through and trimming off pieces with scissors. Then pinning them on to the base boot is really hard due to the folds around the ankles when you're wearing them/they've been broken in a bit and that it's SOOOOOO thick. I also still have to put on the lights, sew the flaps and snaps, and use glow paint on the sole and toe-tip for the lights since if I tried to make a wired LED one I'd wreck the boots.

.....but oh man these things are going to be BADASS. On four-inch heels.

If only my damn CAMERA would turn up, I'd have photos within the next day or two. I really need to find that thing. Con-G's only six weeks away. And now I'm off to do the other boot! And possibly get the wig styled today. I hope the wig works; I'm a bit worried that the sides might be a little too short for her haircut.

Woohoo! The circuitry is almost all soldered. Still has to be properly connected to the battery pack, controller, etc.but it's actually on the suit and able to light up now. And early next week, time to buy a shower curtain to diffuse the lights. Holy MOFO are they bright and we turned them down to HALF strength (as I said earlier, no EL wire or tape here. We used flexible RGB LED strips that are more typically used for things like backlighting countertops, car underlighting, etc.). Pictures soon, I promise. Boyfriend just has to send them to me once he puts them on his own laptop (since my camera's still missing).

Really happy to see more people will be cosplaying from movies/comics at AN! My original costume plans fell through, so I'm working on a Lady Loki costume for a con in early May that I'll be bringing to AN as well. Haven't decided what day I'll wear her yet, probably Friday or Saturday.

I feel the same way and that sounds awesome, so far the shoot seems to be headed towards a Friday shoot.
