Issues with Vinyl Adhering to Spandex
I'm currently trying to glue some strips of vinyl onto a spandex suit. Yet, nothing I do can keep wrinkles from appearing or any slight movement I do causing it to bunch up. The darn fabric just won't lie flat!
I don't have the option to work with it off my body, so it's me and a friend trying to put it together since I need to be in it since it's stretchy material...But goodness, I'm fixing to lose my mind here. I don't want to resort to sewing since I'm not that great at it, but I'm really at the edge of my sanity here with this fabric. Any advice to help it stick? For anyone interested what pattern it is exactly, it's supposed to look like this with the shoulder, thigh, and neck part: http://windofthestars.com/blog/wp-co.../07/niaref.jpg

You're going to need it to be stretched out somehow before you glue the stuff down (really, sewing would be best), sorry to tell you.
Otherwise it just won't work. You'll put it on and everything will end up in the wrong places, or worse, pop/peel off. |

Is there any way I can just resort to colored duct tape for this outfit and just put it on after putting on the outfit? Argh.
I guess I need to make a trip out to figure out how to sew it on. :/

Well, while we're talking about sewing it on.
1. I don't want the stitching to show. How do I remedy this with vinyl? 2. What stitch do I use so that it will stretch with the fabric? 3. Should I work with it while the bodysuit is on, or do I do it while it is off?

1 & 2 You will have to hand sew them front fold o the underside a simple slip stictch would do so lone as the size of stitch is less then 1/8 of an inch each.
For a body suit it's best to work with it while on a form. This included paint the red pattern as well. You can make on on the cheap of have someone wear it as you work. http://latinvixen.phpwebhosting.com/dtd.htm Examples of painting and turquoises vinyl http://www.cosplay.com/costume/359408/ http://www.cosplay.com/costume/300165/ http://www.cosplay.com/costume/355935/ http://www.cosplay.com/costume/289552/ The paint I recommend is Neopaque in red http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/1847-AA.shtml
