Hello guys! c:
I recently finished my Castiel Cosplay (here's the costume) and would like some critique on it. I already have a few things that I want to make better because they aren't good in my opinion. That would be the beard, I wanna have it looking more like actual stubbles. And then I need to hide the sleeves of the shirt better. These are my biggest critique points... So what do you guys think? Is this okay or does it suck? Any opinion would be really appreciated~! (for more photos just go to the costume itself c: ) ![]() ![]() |

I haven't seen the series but I googled up some pictures. Your outfit looks great. In all the pictures I found his hair seems kinda messier than you have yours. =T

I love the photos you have of this.
Like you said I think the only thing that really needs work is the face. Try filling in your eyebrows a bit just to give more of a masculine look. Not too much though or it'll look funny. What are you using right now to do your stubble? |

But thank you! C: Quote:
And - as stupid as it sounds - I used coal for the beard. I already got me aqua makeup and tried to give it a more 'stubble-ish' look with that. It works way better than with the coal. ![]() Anyway, thank you very much! <3 |

Yeah he does doesn't he..I never noticed.
After looking at some pictures if you don't like how the filled in brows look it shouldn't be too much of a problem without. I'm still working on perfecting stubble myself, but when I put it on I use a stipple sponge that I bought at a local costume store so it doesn't go on so heavy and gives more of a stubble effect. |

Nope, mine looks exactly the same.
Is that what you used to do your makeup here? I've been using a little container of black halloween costume makeup to do stubble? I don't know if that's the best way, but it seems to get into on enough so that it doesn't look too thick and dark. |

I've heard coffee grounds and vaseline work well as stubble, but I've never done it myself.
Is your tie on backwards on purpose?

Looks really good so far, although the stubble seems a bit dark and much. Perhaps apply it lighter next time?

On another note, I also feel the same for the make-up. It is a bit dark, but that happens to me too when I experiment with my cross-plays. My advice is to practice it a lot, and try perfecting a way to do it lighter. There's also using videos of people applying the make-up on You-tube to use as reference.

Why don't you try using a wet stippling brush in some black or brown eye shadow?

There's also some advice in photo section that says you should really fill in your eyebrows, even if you think you don't need to, because they will appear even lighter in photographs.

Best stubble method I've found is to cut lots of short (around 1/8 inch or shorter) bits of hair or wig fibre and spirit gum them on. It takes a bit of practice, and that much area will take some time to apply, but it looks real enough that no one remarked on it when I went bowling as modern!Kili.
Using a stipple sponge is easier and faster and not as itchy, but it doesn't look as good.
