I love this series and would love to cosplay from it, but I'm having a hard time picking out a character. I kinda like all of them, but I narrowed it down to either Sayaka or Homura... (dumb question, but fun to ask) How did everyone else pick out which character to cosplay? :3

I picked Kyoko Sakura because she has a super awesome "me" attitude. And she's super curte and her color is a darker shade of red (which is my fav color).

I picked Mami because physically she have more curves then the rest of the girls (which is unusually in anime). I also like her design as well as out of all of them, it's the laest Asian style and almost steampunkish.

Well, if you skip over the Ebay price-jackers, you could get those gacha Soul Gem toys... You'd have to get a different set, though.　It might be hard to find the tainted Soul Gems or the Kyubey head, but if you just want the normal light-up Soul Gem, those are still being made as part of "Soul Gem Light 2" (the normal 5 can also be bought as a bundle for 2000 yen from a certain retailer, in a quick Google search).

If you have 29 other friends who like MadoMagi that could be the way to go. A store that specializes in those Gacha capsule toys is discounting them. 30 of those capsules is 12000 yen full-price, but sold as a pack of 30 for 31% off... 8280 yen . 8280 yen is about $112 USD. Add $10 service fee and assume $40 shipping = $162. Divide that by 30 and that's about $5.40 each. I've left out the domestic shipping and even the int'l shipping will vary depending on how large/heavy, but... it's safe to say you could obtain them for no more than $8 apiece, everything included.

Mind you, those Soul Gem Light 2 capsules actually aren't released until April, so....

Bandai is actually the founder of capsule machines and they are licensed. The problem I have with them is size. The Soul Gem Light series is passable (6 cm tall), but I want the clear resin type, and those only come in the cell phone strap variety.... and are small enough to MadoMagi figurines to wear accurately.

I went with Mami! Part of it was because she's the character whose figure is closest to mine, and the other was because she's a whole lot like me personality wise.

On a related note, the corset I'm going to use for my Mami cosplay came in yesterday and I'm kind of in love with it!

Started up working on a new Madoka cosplay for myself, did Godoka so now time to go back and do Magical Girl Madoka! LOL Hoping it goes well, I've gotten a few things purchased but all I've managed to finish is my petticoat, the bloomers are almost done thankfully, just have to put the waistband into it.

Okay, I need help Madoka thread! It looks like I will be making magical girl Madoka and I'm pretty lost on how to make her. Her top kind of looks like a tank top with the poofy sleeves attached. Her petal skirt is really scaring me... I'm thinking of making a circle skirt and then trying to figure out how to divide the petals evenly? The petticoat I'm okay with I think, I just need a bunch of circle skirts. any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

And hello everyone! I'm getting ready to start a Magical Girl Mami costume, and I'm super excited, but I'm a little confused on the skirt at the moment. I'm not sure whether to make it a regular circle skirt, or a 1 1/2 or two circle skirt. I want it to have the same volume as it does on the show (I plan on putting horse hair braid in the hem to help achieve that), but I don't know if a regular circle skirt will be enough. Any ideas?

What color does everyone considered her jacket? I've been trying to find a pre-made one that I can alter, but am having trouble with the color.
