Belt with Faux Metal Trim?

Hey Cosplayers,

I'm making a costume for later this year and it seems to take some engineering that I'm a little confused about. The piece calls for a big leather belt, like a girdle - I made mine 4" long, so it covers most of my waistline. It also laces together. No buckle.

But the thing is that the edgings of the belt seem to have a raised metal trim on the model. Now, at first I thought that wonderflex would be a good idea, but then ran into the whole issue of needing this thing to flex around my waist to get it on! Does anyone have any ideas on what material I can use for a metal-like trim that's a flexible material?

And if anyone is wondering, the armor is oversized - think World of Warcraft tier sets.
