In my opinion, a compression shirt is the best way to go. I'm large chested and no matter how many times and ways I've tried using ace bandages, I still ran into problems one way or another. Just a slight warning wearing compression shirts. The vest will start to chafe your skin and can leave a rash after wearing it for a long time, if you're not wearing anything underneath. That happened to me once. DX

I have C cups and have never had an issue. Just don't bind them too tight, it shouldn't hurt. And if you still can't get your chest as flat as you'd like, you can always lightly pad your stomach to make it "flatter" in general to even it out?
I usually don't have the problem, so yeah.
All my cosplays so far have been guys (and i'm a girl!)

I sewed my own binder out of elastic and cotton from a tutorial on tumblr, it is rather comfy and doesn't cause me discomfort or pain. I'm pretty pleased with it. I added straps to keep it from slipping
