You're gonna want a shop-vac when you start sanding. The stuff gets EVERYWHERE. I worked on my pieces outside and had to get vacuumed off and then strip at the door to get back in the house without bringing in a pink dust cloud.

Another peeve: designing Pokémon gijinkas. Well, actually...I love designing Pokémon gijinkas for myself (my designs are decent, I suppose), but why must it be so tedious at times? ;_; It took me 3 tries to get a Wingull and Glaceon gijinka right and twice for a Growlithe, Jolteon and Shinx one. And I know that's not many that many tries, but you do not know how long as I sat in front of my computer monitor, at a blank MS Paint page, brainstorming, mentally rejecting one idea after another. >>

My current one is having no idea who to cosplay. I'm about ready to add another one, considering that most of my projects are done, but I'm really uninspired. No characters are jumping out at me. This has never happened before 0.o

Patterns with weird cutting layouts. I just bought the materials to make Tepig, but I need to get more interfacing. Right now I'm working on a vest. Having made a couple vests before, I figured one yard would be enough interfacing. But the way this pattern has you cut it out requires a lot more. I guess I should have listened to the back of the pattern instead of going with my gut.

When a cosplay shop says "everything is 15% off" but doesn't cross off the current prices and add the lowered ones. I'm talking about this shop, right here: http://www.animestuffstore.com/home.php

How can I really be sure whether a $22 wig is $18 now?

This isn't exclusive to cosplay, but I can't stand it when I walk into a store by myself and all the employees look at me as if I'm going to steal something. Just because I'm a teenager doesn't mean I'm a thief This usually happens when I shop for pieces to my cosplay.

Another pet peeve of mine is when your character wears something that (you think) shouldn't be too difficult to find, but you can't find anything even close to what you're looking for. For example, a plain pleated skirt, a striped shirt, a certain colored ribbon, etc.

Finally, forgetting to order my stuff before Chinese New Year celebrations! XD
I hope my cosplay manages to get here before the con!

I actually have never had that problem even though I'm 16. As one acquaintance put it, "you look like you buy shit." I guess it also helps that strangers always think that I'm in my early 20's.

And on that last one, do you know how hard it is to find a non-bridal plain white dress or a cheap white garter? Ugh!

Site related...

When websites feel the need to change things that used to work perfectly, and messing up. Why the heck do you change things that worked fine already. Now that they don't, I bet everyone's happy with your updates. -.-

Excuse me, I'm not very happy about CC messing up the whole site for an anniversary and dA changing the photo uploader to one that can only make broken icons.

Just why.

It's like "People, if you aren't eligible/interested in rooming with me, don't reply to my post." I actually believe the drama these people cause scare others off because I have to call them out on it.

Apparently people's problem with my policy is that it's "wimpy and sexist." I say that they should just grow up and respect other people's boundaries.
A little update on this. I had to replace of one my roommates for my next con. Writing "Don't reply unless you're actually interested in rooming with me" worked great. Although it's kind of ticks me off that people have to be told that.

I'm also 16, but I look younger. I guess that doesn't help the situation.

I would imagine pretty difficult, since you mentioned it! XD
My most recent pain was trying to find a plain white bracelet band for my upper arm. I think I'll just have to find a white bracelet that's too large for me and try to slide it up my arm (and hope it stays there!).

A pet peeve of mine is, well, this will probs be unpopular but... Like all the variations you see on costumes these days! To elaborate, I really do like and respect Beachstuck this or Fem! that or Fancy! this or Steampunk! etc etc. Like I said I usually really like these outfits and totes respect them! But I dunno... I guess I just prefer to see canonical outfits? There are so many characters with so many outfits and stuff, why make up your own?? I dinna ken.

^Well, I do completely original characters. I've spent some time doing established stuff, now it's fun to make my own visions a reality.

I guess this frustration ties in with yours- lately people on my local con's facebook group have been posting all these pics of highly sexualized "female version of male character" cosplays. Think black lingerie and a Darth Vader helmet, or Stormtrooper helmet and a teddy with armor plating, or storm trooper armor made to look and cover about as much as a bikini. And drawings of female Boba Fett wearing next to nothing and posing like a pinup.

Now, I have nothing against cosplaying characters who are already sexual. I have nothing against female versions of male characters. But why do so many of these "male to female" cosplays end up as skimpwear? It's especially irritating when it's done to a character who would never act that way, or when functional armor gets turned into something completely non functional and revealing.

....this one is seriously starting to drive me nuts.

Stop posting photos of lolitas like it's just cosplay. Lolita is not cosplay.
Just because people wear lolita to conventions does not make it cosplay.
Just because some cosplays resemble lolita does not make it lolita.
Lolita is fashion.
Stop confusing the two.
Jeez.
