Merida walk on ideas?

I'm planning on doing a walk on in my Princess Merida costume. Any ideas on what I should do?

Merinda as in the movie Brave?

If you have a bow and arrow, you can pretend that you are firing arrows.
I haven't seen Brave so this is the best I can do. Good luck. ^^

Rewatch the movie/trailers and pick 2-3 poses that suit her. Or look at photos of the Disney Park character actor and see what poses she does.

When walking across the stage, stop at 2-3 places (at intervals) and hold your desired pose for 2-3 beats. This gives people enough time to see your costume and take photos. Remember to smile if it's appropriate. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the help! I'm probably gonna stop, put my hands on my hips like she does at one point in the film, aim my bow into the audience, and maybe take a bite from an apple?

I wouldn't involve real food in your presentation. It might get messy, you might be too nervous to swallow, you might choke, something else could go wrong.
Also, please be very very careful if you're carrying both a bow and arrows, and particularly if you actually nock an arrow. Shooting your audience is a bad thing! When I did a performance with a longbow, I didn't use arrows at all, and I won several awards for it. Pantomiming the arrow made me much more comfortable.

I'm an archer, and I'm pretty confident in whether or not I'll actually shoot someone, haha. And the arrows are untipped.

I've already spoken to con security too, and gotten the go-ahead.
I probably won't have an apple though. I rarely get stage fright, but it wouldn't be good to choke now, would it?

Good to hear it.
Part of the concern at my home con is that, while you the cosplayer may be a good and safe archer, some yahoo might grab your bow and try to fire it. Checking with your local regs is totally the way to go there.

Yeah, I was actually kinda worried about that.
The con here has quite a few people that are kinda grabby, from what I've experienced.
Constaff is usually pretty good about keeping the grabbing to a minimum though.
I'll get it peacebonded, for sure, just to make sure.

If you know your populace is grabby, maybe leave the arrows behind when you're walking the halls, and just carry them onstage where they look impressive?
Either way, please share photos or video when you have them.

If you are going to load an arrow I'd suggest not pointing it AT the audience, in Theatre it's a big No to point loaded weapons at the audience. Since you are a trained archer it might be neat to give the audience a 3/4 or a sideways view so they can see the proper archer stance, would make for a nice picture as well.

Do something Merida would do if she realized everyone was watching her. Just casually walk onstage, then notice the audience and realize she's in another situation she doesn't want any part in. Something in keeping with her character.

What about something similar to the scene in the movie where she is walking into the great hall, the doors open and shes eating the apple and swifty has to make her way to the front of the hall?

As a fellow archer, and someone who works with kids and bows and arrows at the same time(haha) I would advise against carrying arrows around the convention anywhere that they will be loose. People have grabby hands and an un-tipped projectile is just as dangerous as a tipped one.

As for on stage, if you feel that you really must wield an arrow, then do two things:

1. Do not nock it. Grab the string in a manner that nobody will know that the arrow is not actually on the string. Nobody will be the wiser and you will remove the risk of accidentally firing it if someone does something that startles or distracts you.

2. Do not point it at the audience. It be unsettling to the audience members to have a loaded weapon pointed at them. Not only that, but it makes for a lousy angle for photos. If you are facing forward, they get an image of a part of your face, with a stick in front of it. It will not do good for displaying your costume and it will focus badly. It would make much more sense to be at an angle, where they can see the length of the bow, but also your profile and your costume.
