What I did was buy pony beads and a smaller, thinner bead to space them for one, and stiff leather strips hotglued together with shaped jewelry wire in the center and wrapped with suede lace for the others. If you glaze them, they'll look shiny and awkward and when I wrapped the suede, the friction was enough to keep the wrap from moving. The jewelry wire is good for adding clasps in the back to make them easy to take on and off.

Edit: Never mind, figured it out ^_^

My only concern now is how to keep the bead strings from falling. Pesky gravity...

Going to read back through the thread and see how you dealt with it.
