Finding the right fabric, I just can't do it sometimes. I especially had trouble finding ribbed fabric in the right blue for my Rinoa cosplay. I finally had to settle with a less than perfect fabric after I gave up on my hunt for it. Also, dying a wig. I tried the acrylic ink method and failed horribly. It was a struggle. The results weren't much of a difference and I was a little disappointed. I think I might try it again sometime, but we'll see.

How whenever I wear one of my cosplay wigs to school for spirit week, people ask to try it on. Last friday we had to wear our school colors so I wore my Kaito wig since it's bright blue. EVERY class I went to I had someone asking to try it (one kid even asked "Can I have your wig? I think I'd rock it." He got ignored.) I just always kindly explain that it's not some cheap wig from party city that needs to be handled with care because it tangles easily. Usually this shuts people up but one girl kept insisting and would not take no for an answer and went so far as to call me a "f*cking bitch" when I finally had to stop being polite.

Yes, it's a wig. It's not normal. I'm the only one in school wearing one, but it's spirit week. There's other weird stuff around. Go harass the guy with the sombrero.

You totally didn't deserve that reaction. It's her that's the f*cking bitch. Its your personal property, she shouldn't demand or expect that you would just give it to her. Geeez.

Ugh, I keep sewing Tepig's vest wrong. I hope it still looks okay with the number of times I had to take the seam ripper to it.

Edit: I'm so stupid. I just sewed the side front piece to the back piece, leaving the side back piece out completely. I tried the vest on and wondered why it was so small. That's when I found the side back piece I cut out. I'll try to fix it tomorrow, maybe I'll do better after some sleep.

Lack of reference images strikes again. -_-

I'm trying to find back shots of Robin's cloak from Fire Emblem Awakening but I'm having no luck. Even the concept art I found only has the front. Of course it might help that I'm trying to avoid as many game spoilers as possible so I haven't tried tumblr yet.

Current cosplay pet peeve: Forgetting important stuff.

...like you know medical problems such as being colorblind to some shades of blue and purple. It doesn't usually bother me all that much in life and leads to momentary confusion, or long term confusion. (Like my prom dress looks purple and light purple when apparently its purple and pink? or my families purple bowl is actually blue...)

So my big problems with my Seymour fabric isn't really a problem because it is actually a pretty good color for it according to my non-colorblind parents...

Losing pieces of cosplays or cosplay accessories that you've organized at least a half a dozen times.

I swear every time I start trying to plan and pre-pack for conventions, I can't find anything.

Not only is that wig your personal property, but there's also legitimate health and hygiene concerns. Sharing wigs is a good way to spread lice, ringworm and scabies.

When people sort of demand people buy their cosplays. A friend of mine made a post in a local cosplay group on Facebook to sell her old cosplays. After the post was up for a few days she made another post saying "PEOPLE BUY MY COSPLAYS!" Well, that was rude and unnecessary. Next time I see her, I'll bring it up. It's the sort of thing I'd rather talk to her about in person.

A couple things;
When people say "you shouldn't/can't cosplay that person because you just don't look like him/her". If I looked like the person I wouldn't cosplay them. Does that mean African American's basically have 5 people to choose from? It angers me to no end when people say such close-minded and shallow things..

When people get into superiority complexes over their handmade costumes. I realize you hand-made it. That's amazing, kudos to you for sticking to such a difficult task. However, you are /not/ a better cosplayer than me because I bought mine. I am not good with my hands. I can't sew worth a bean. I've tried it before, and I just couldn't do the character justice. But me buying my costume doesn't make me an "inferior" cosplayer.

Contests/giveaways and print selling trends on Facebook.
Elitist, people who critic other people for any reason beyond when requested.
Beginner cosplayers constantly asking for advice on something without even searching for the answer.
When people ask a bunch of times, "Is there going to be anyone cosplaying from XXX" when clearly someone has already asked that a few posts before or that there is a scheduled photoshoot for that.

When someone keeps pestering you about making a super-detailed cosplays for him/er, when you both know that s/he can't afford to pay for them. I'm too nice to point out the glaringly obvious and s/he's too proud to admit it.

Which leads to an increasingly awkward game of where s/he goes: "Since I'm spending so much money on it, it has to be PERFECT." And then goes over every single detail with a fine-toothed comb, asking how much each part will be and could you possibly do a shortcut here or there to save money, but still have it PERFECT?

Eventually, I figure s/he's given up, but then... "Hey! I found a costume that might be cheaper! How much for this super-detailed cosplay?" And the game starts again.

*sigh* If you're going to be so nitpicky over something AND are so concerned about price, maybe you need to learn to sew and make it yourself?

Having all this motivation to work on a cosplay, but not having any of the materials to actually start it. I'm super excited to start on a cosplay, but I don't have any of the fabric for it yet. Hurry up and have a sale on the fabric that I need, Hancocks! (; ̄Д ̄)

Which brings me to my other pet peeve~ finally getting all the materials you need, but losing all your motivation to work on it. Thank goodness the con isn't til April. ( ~ 。~ )
