Yeah, but those ones look pretty lame. The scarf is suppose to be scales so I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to make it pop out a little.

How are you with pillows. I'd suggest stuffing fabric with feathers and sewing squares. Like a comforter. Or you could use EVA foam and craft scales then hot glue them to the scarf. Mouse pad mats come to mind...

Anyone able to pass on a cosplay tutorial for Ino Yamanaka and Kallen Kozuki? I have about 3 weeks to make 3 costumes (I'm gone for 3 weeks at a time and can't exactly bring my stuff with me to continue during downtime)

I've been considering trying a Black Egret from Skullgirls (http://www.giantbomb.com/skullgirls/...er/51-2181820/) which pretty much looks like I'd need:

-An olive double-breasted suit (like http://www.mensitaly.com/products.aspx?id=11153... not sure about how I would tackle the pants? I'm not even sure what they're called) The red shirt and tie are probably the easiest items to procure.

-A brown load-bearing vest, or webbing? Although I have a feeling I won't have a lot of luck searching for one that looks like the one depicted. Or maybe it's not quite a load-bearing vest/webbing (it actually does look a little more like a few belts in the Egrets' case). It looks like I'd need two prop stick grenades on top of that.

-A unique-looking helmet and a gas mask. I think the helmet itself is probably the most difficult part for me (being time-constrained and not having much skill when it comes to crafting). I know I can probably find a gas mask at an army surplus store (and I think there are a few guides when it comes to lighting up the eye lens). If I could find a helmet that is shaped similarly to the one in the artwork, maybe I'd be able to work off of it and add the little Umbrella decal and Pickelhaube-like point on the top somehow on my own.

-Red armband with the little umbrella logo. I think this shouldn't be too difficult to procure in one way or another even despite my complete lack of crafting skills.

-Grey/Black/Charcoal gloves. Shouldn't be too hard. I'll probably have to decide on the texture/material/thickness/etc.

Up until now, I've pretty much put together my last two costumes (Phoenix Wright and Roy Mustang) by buying a suit/uniform close to the design and making subtle changes on my own (mostly just buying in the case of Mustang), and it didn't hurt that both get-ups were fairly simple.

I feel like the entire suit part of a Black Egret would essentially be the same as my Phoenix Wright costume's process (buy an appropriately-colored suit/shirt/tie, get it fitted better, etc.), but the concept of putting together the impressive-looking helmet is what sort of intimidates me the most. I've never had an amazing amount of free time (or skill) to do any crafting of my own, but having a tailor friend is what let me get away with putting together Phoenix and Roy. Crafting a helmet from scratch is probably not possible in my situation, but I figured if there was some kind of base model I could work off of, I might be able to think of something.

I'm not looking to be 100% exactly accurate, but would anybody be able to point me in the right direction especially in regards to the helmet/mask and webbing? I guess it doesn't help that this particular "character" isn't very well-known, hahah.

Simplicity has a vintage line now. Glad I thought of it, otherwise you would have had to search through all of Simplicity's and McCall's jackets, top, suits, sportswear, etc. Why Simplicity calls there suits sportswear I don't know.

Yes, there are loads of tutorials out there. Many are bits and pieces and you'll have better luck looking if you focus on parts rather then the whole. Try the "search this forum" option for this forum and the "General contruction help". "Sticky:"s are wonderfull. Also try "Cosplay by series" and the search tutorial is a must. Finally, this site is very usefull.http://cosplaytutorial.com/ That should be a good start.

I want to make a japanese kimono for a cosplay. I'm thinking more of a yukata(summer kimono) for it, because the con is in summer and I don't want to die of heat o.O I've seen people say making a kimono is like SUPER hard. But, some people say its easy as putting it together with bed sheets...so I'm kinda clueless at this point. I can't really sew, but I have a friend who can and will probably teach me.

There are several threads that come up when looking for +sewing +kimono and +pattern. Try, Common Questions about Costume Making by Godsavethequeen and "Must Have" (sewing, etc.) books for cosplay by alrasha to start with. I personal use Make your own Japanese Clothes by John Marshall. Obi can be a pain to make and put on. Some people make false Obi instead.

I think I might go with the bed sheet idea. I wouldn't mind makng an Obi although I don't know how to. I don't mind tying it either. I found a tutorial on youtube but it looks sorta weird. Anyways thanks for the info

Try making the hair sticks out of chopsticks. You can even find metal ones out there. The screen fan could be made out of card stock and bamboo or dowel. The gold decoration can be make out of posterboard, foam board, eva foam etc. You can layer it for the effect.

Try Youtube. There are alot of tutorials on how to make pvc bows. I wouldn't make them in the house. Maybe in the garage with a heat gun. The bow can also be made with foam board or similar but you'll have to work at getting it round. It helps when you search this site if you know what kind of bow that is...long bow, composite, yumi, etc. Talk to the Hunger Game cosplayers. My human suggest this site. http://www.kultofathena.com/archery.asp The difficult part about bows and arrows at con is that even the prop ones maybe not be allowed. Arrows can be made out of dowels, don't tip them.
