But they can help it, that's the thing.

I get that you can't really control your internet. I pay for good internet and it still takes dumps from time to time. I get that. But then why do you decide "Hey, I'm gonna play a 100% team based game while my internet is giving me problems!"? When my internet is acting up, I stop playing team based games, and I go play some solo based games until it's fixed. I won't let my problem bring down other people, that just isn't fair, especially when these other people didn't ask for it and don't know me at all.

And on the topic of just bad internet in general; if your internet/computer can't handle it, don't play. I'm sorry if that seems a little harsh or unfair, but it is what it is. If your computer can't handle the specs for a game, do you play it? No, cause you can't run it. That principle applies even more so to a team based pvp game, because now you're bringing down the people you were teamed with.

The first couple of times it happens a day I'm usually pretty tolerant. I just tell them "try not to play team based games until your internet is back to it's old self" or something.

But when you lose 10+ games in a row because of people's internet, it can get really, really frustrating, and that's when I get snappy. I just consider it common sense not to let my problems bog down other people, who have their own problems and didn't ask to be burdened with mine, y'know?

Then again I don't get irrationally angry at people over games, I've been on the other end of that with an abusive asshole of a boyfriend so I tend to not overreact to games.

Brando and I do a lot of online fighting game matches and if one person has a bad internet connection it can actually delay things on their end. So for example if I have a strong connection and I perform a move it will end up delayed on their end and they will be reacting with a delay. So it ends up effecting both ends. It's like one person is playing waist deep in mud.

I think it's a generally valid upset, not that it's some big serious issue to me personally but it can really effect a match and sometimes the person on the slower connection isn't really aware how badly that can change things for the person on the other end too.

I don't like team games, mostly because i don't feel like being yelled at and harassed online. If I wanted that I'd go to 4chan or something. or play Halo.

Fuck PVP, competitive video gaming has done nothing but bring the worst out in people.

The best multiplayer, is co op multiplayer, Streets of Rage, Gauntlet, etc.

Nah, online competitive video gaming has done this. Bringing friends over to play some VS games is still a lot of fun.

Online competitiveness and it's "society" is a totally different can of worms.

Well, what I really meant was "professional" competitive gaming.

Thanks fighting game jackasses, complaining about 3 frames of recovery animation has ruined fighting games forever.

Mind you I still watch TF 2 matches sometimes, but that's because they aren't elitest jackasses who are like "DUR NO SPIES, DEFAULT WEAPONS, 2 FORT ONLY". They only ban very few weapons, poorly designed map and turn off random crits.
