Unhappy Made a mistake with my corset- will it still be okay??!

Okay so I'm making a corset that consists of 3 layers- satin, fusible interfacing and coutil (lining). You're supposed to stitch the whole satin part together (which I've done) and then fuse the interfacing to the lining part. Then you're supposed to stitch the boning onto the interfacing side and then attach the interfacing/lining part to the main satin part. However, I fused the interfacing to the satin part instead of the lining (that's why you should always read the pattern carefully!) and am now going to have to stitch the boning to the lining instead and then attach that to the satin + interfacing part.

If that's a little confusing to read, basically:

It should be: satin->boning->interfacing->lining

Instead, mine's will be: satin->interfacing->boning->lining

Will that still work? I'm not redoing the whole thing now at this stage, because the con that I'm making it for is in April, plus I've put so much work into this and I don't want to waste all of that. But will it still be okay like this???!

Most patterns that I know that call for the boning not to be put in channels made from sewing the outer fabric and lining together have the boning in the lining. As long as you put everything together correctly besides that, you should be fine.

It seems fine to me. If you're really worried you could add more interfacing to the lining. (:

Thanks guys The boning I'm using is the sew-in stuff (rigilene) so I won't have to use channels anyway

I'm with ichigo, inner facing is usually cheap, so if you aren't sure get some on your lining fabric.

While you are still at this stage, I'd upgrade to channels & something stiffer than the sew-in boning. You will find later you really don't like it, it's too wimpy for a genuine corset.
