I'd go with wood for the core. Poplar is cheap and soft enough to cut easily. Cut it out and round the edges with a rasp. Epoxy clay for the details on the front, side, and butt. Make the trigger mechanism out of a strip of sheet polystyrene, sold at hobby shops. Warm it with a hairdryer and bend it to shape when it softens. sand the surfaces, progressing up to 220 grit. Apply sanding sealer to the wood surfaces, let dry, then sand some more. Primer, paint, then clearcoat if desired.

for cheap

id go with wood,
then for the silver bits, use pop cans,
cut off top/bottoms, clean, place silver up and use a half sharpens pencil to press the design
into it (or reverse side for raised design)

Whatup, 3D modeler here, I'm having trouble getting started w/ cosplay commissions, I'm guessing it's cause constructing this stuff is one of the fun parts. Hollow plastic is the cheapest, polished aluminum might look awesome, and obviously stainless steel would look the best but would be expensive. You'd have to paint it, and from the looks of it maybe add your own wood panels. Example.

All Good viable options. Hmmm idk. i was thinking of going with the wood. and constructing it from there. Pop cans is a good idea as well i may use that. Thanks
