Cosplay Dating Game Now Accepting Applications!


We’re happy to announce that applications for the Cosplay Dating Game are now open! The Cosplay Dating Game is similar to the traditional ‘Dating Game’ of yesteryear TV. Three bachelors or bachelorettes sit on one side of a curtain. On the other side is the ‘prize,’ an elusive bachelor or bachelorette (the prize) for one of the 3 contestants to ‘win.’ The twist is that participants are in costume and are the character! The prize will ask several questions, which contestants must answer in character. Then “the prize” will choose which date they want. Unlike the real ‘Dating Game,’ this event is purely for the amusement and entertainment of the participants and audience. No real dating is involved.

Zenkaikon’s room block at the Lancaster Marriott has filled, so we are happy to announce an overflow block at the Lancaster Arts Hotel! This hotel is about 6 blocks away from the convention center.

At our last 3 day event in 2011, we had 3,168 paid attendees (3,422 warm bodies). I would expect we will be seeing at least that many this year. A schedule will be released closer to the time of the convention. There's over a month and a half and plenty of activities are still being fit in!

Zenkaikon welcomes Saber Guild Keystone Temple!


After the fall of the Jedi Order a small band of Jedi are sent on a special mission by Master Yoda. They must rebuild the Jedi Order and find new padawans. The Jedi are chased and hunted by Darth Sidious and his followers to earth. Will the Jedi rebuild the Jedi Order or will Darth Sidious finally control the universe and oppression of the Sith continue?

Zenkaikon is happy to welcome the Saber Guild – Keystone Temple to Zenkaikon 2013!

The Saber Guild – Keystone Temple is the Pennsylvania chapter of a nation-wide, Lucas Film approved, non-profit organization, which shares its passion for Star Wars through a variety of performances at different events. Their costumed, choreographed lightsaber performances are appealing to fans of all ages. In addition to performances, the Saber Guild is proud to put its resources to good use through fundraising, charity work, and volunteerism.

Zenkaikon welcomes Kuniko Kanawa!


Zenkaikon is happy to welcome certified Kimono consultant, Kimono model, Edo Tsumami Kanzashi artisan, Kuniko Kanawa!

In 2007, Kuniko officially became a certified Kimono consultant of the All Japan Kimono Consultant Association after graduating from Sodo Reihou Kimono College. Since attaining her certification, she has been offering her Kimono dressing service, teaching Kimono classes and workshops, and producing informative and entertaining Kimono Shows which feature Kimono dressing demonstrations. She also works as a Kimono model, utilizing the six treasured years of classical Japanese dance training in Hanayagi style under the exceptional tutelage of Hanayagi Wakana sensei.

Zenkaikon welcomes Uncle Yo!

We are thrilled to welcome back geek-specific comedian Uncle Yo for his sixth Zenkaikon!

Fewer man-children have their feet so firmly planted in the anime convention scene as Karl “Uncle Yo” Custer. The Pennsylvania-born New Yorker has performed for anime clubs, conventions and Japanese cultural events all over the country. Yo’s current roster of projects includes the weekly released podcast, “We are the Geek,” the sole voice cast for Google Play’s video game “Top Dog: Lucky’s Charm,” and his newest album, “Ecto-Kitt-Lorean” released on iTunes and Amazon this past February. Zenkaikon is Yo’s first con, his home con, and his private playground. Whether hosting a panel, a masquerade, or subjecting innocent civilians to his rants, he celebrates that, just as foretold, the Geek have inherited the Earth.

Zenkaikon Sakura Cosplay Ball Information Posted!

Information on our Friday night formal dance event, the Sakura Ball, is now available!

Prepare for a decadent evening of cosplay, music, and dance. The Sakura Ball is Zenkaikon’s formal dance event taking place on Friday evening of the convention. “Set Dancing”, a traditional form of folk group dancing, will be taught and the main style of dance for the evening.

As with any formal event, there is a dress code and some expected decorum, so go visit the Sakura Ball page to learn the full details!
