Ha, aww! I'm glad this thread exists - we are also trying to figure out the fabric to use for the Sugar Rush racers!

Honestly, I think all the Sugar Rush racers (with the exception of Vanellope) wear satin jackets. Not only is that what the dolls wear, a lot of sporty jackets (ESPECIALLY in the 80s) tend towards satin. I know satin is a pain in the butt for costuming, but in this case I think it's actually pretty accurate.

Planning to have a small "Sugar Rush" group for Sakura Matsuri in Washington, DC this year: Taffyta, Vanellope, and Jubileena.
For what it's worth (if anyone's still wondering such things), as far as I know my Vanellope used plain ol' RIT dye in "teal" (though only a relatively small amount) to dye a white hoodie accordingly, and my jacket for Jubileena is just a slightly modified Adidas windbreaker (not sure if our Taffyta's doing the same for hers, but whatever, we don't have to 100% match). Though would you believe we couldn't find red or black rubber boots anywhere for a price we could afford/we were willing to pay! At least I was able to find some PVC so we could make boot covers.
