How to draft a hoop skirt to any shape you'd like!

I found this in my search of trying find a bell shape for Flame Princess. I really wasn't satisfied with any of the patterns I bought.

Thought it may be very helpful to someone else as well!

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...ern-With-the-/

She uses the "traditional" way of making a hoop, with adding boning into a skirt. I'm going to try substituting that with the hose+ribbon method. But Step 1 to 3 was extremely helpful.

I also used Flame Princess's exact measurements and proportions to draft it, so let me know if you'd like to know my math for that ^^ (or the way I did it rather)
Took my measurements right off of this picture: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...mePrincess.png

Note: This only works for full circle hoops! No half/cut in the middle or oval ones.

EDIT: I actually just finished drafting it. I'd say it took me maybe 30 minutes to an hour start to finish?
A correction: you actually still need to follow step 1 all the way to 6 even if you're making a hoop like this: http://thedreamstress.com/2009/08/th...ter-next-time/ or http://masquedcosplay.blogspot.com/2...-under-40.html

Step 4 will give you the length you need the ribbons to be (minus any seam allowance). Then when you get your circumference, you can add those all up and go get tubing

You know, I feel dumb for never thinking of sketching a mock up using a height/waist chart. Thanks for the link! The only suggestion I would add is don't forget about heel height. Might make a difference. Very neat tutorial!

Aaw I feel so special that a mod commented on this XD
Yeah, I know right? I did take heel height into consideration. I'm wearing flats with these so there's not that much.
I would have never thought of this on my own. All the math lol. But the way she did it makes a ton of sense.

I actually just finished drafting it. I'd say it took me maybe 30 minutes to an hour start to finish?

I'll update when I finish actually making the hoop!
