Red face Porrim from Homestuck?

My best friend is having a cosplay party and invited me, though I've never role-played in my life. I've always wanted to give it a try, I mean, I already have one wig and a few Harry Potter Slytherin things from the last HP con I went to. But she loves Homestuck and I wanted to be Porrim. But I don't know how to cosplay, or how to sew, or anything like that. So I was wondering where to buy things, or how to even cosplay. Sorry if I sound dumb. Like I said, I'm new at this. >_< Please and thank you. <3

My understandings of the jist of cosplay is dressing up as someone (maybe even something like Pocky) and just having fun, considering that cosplay is just 'costume' and 'play' combined into one.
Sewing can be tricky at first (I broke a few sewing machines before I actually got lessons and learnt how to sew properly), so I'd recommend seeing if you know anyone who could teach you how to sew, and practicing on spare fabric. Fabric stores and some thrift stores usually sell patterns that you could alter for you cosplay.
You can buy material for cosplay almost anywhere, including thrift stores and craft stores.
And don't worry, there are no such thing as stupid questions. Atleast that's what one of my favourite teachers would always say, so it must be true!

Check the Homestuck thread on this site for tips. There is also a Homestuck cosplay tumblr that may have lots of info. Depending on the outfit, decide whether you can buy something or modify existing clothes. Good luck!

Thanks, guys! I think I'm just going to start simple and just get a halter dress just so I only have to sew the green ribbon on for the green trimming and just do the slit. Just so I can start with not too much sewing. But getting the pattern on that catsuit I got....>_> That's going to be complicated. I'll post a picture if I ever get that done in time.
