THIS. This this this. I had to spend 15 minutes hyping myself up and trying to map out conversations in my head for calling tablet distributors the other morning, and work out how to say tablet manufacturer names and models so someone could understand over the phone.

And sometimes I just get all passionate about things and get all stuttery, but it's never over any words in particular it just seems more about where they fall in the sentence and the emphasis that went into it and things like that.

I'm mostly just glad that my area of West Virginia is mostly devoid of the typical "drawl" you'll find farther south. I swear, I can't go through drive-thrus in Charleston, because some of them have super thick accents that I can't understand. Most folks where I live have a completely neutral accent, more like most of Pennsylvania (I know Pitt and Philly have regional accents, but I think most of PA is pretty neutral).

I don't really have any problems with pronunciation unless it's with words with two different readings, like read or read. I don't even normally make this mistake, but if i go too fast then I can easily mispronounce it in the sentence of which it's being used.

I must say, however, that there are some locations in the U.S. that I will never be able to say correctly.

There's some strange ones here in Canada, too, especially far north where it's mostly native and Inuit towns (Inuktitut is very hard-to-pronounce language). Try Ikaluktuuttiaq, Qikiqtarjuaq, and Kangiqtugaapik... (FORTUNATELY most of them use an English name too so people can pronounce it)

I blame Canada.

I can't say Christopher Eccleston's last name. It always comes out something like Eck-kleck-lest-son. But usually I don't have trouble pronouncing stuff so much as I pronounce it wrong with great confidence because I don't know how it's actually pronounced.
