Had tacos for dinner tonight. With no beans, because there were none bought. With no guacamole, because my mother did not buy avocados. With no onions, because the only one we had had gone bad before we cut it. With Mexican rice, but this weird brand that tasted sticky.

So basically not tacos, but a hodgepodge of oddly gelatinous corn tortillas with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and salsa. What the hell did I eat.

the noodles came with a little packet of fish sauce, which is a little bit sweet and I think I'd leave it out next time. It also came with little green onions and chili powder. I added soy and memmi to the broth. I think the fish sauce is still just a little too sweet for me.

I added some finely shredded onion, button mushrooms, and left over Easter ham that I put under the broiler for a little bit. I also added some nori. The soft boiled eggs are kinda ugly looking so I waited to take two pictures :P


I just briefly marinated them in the fridge with a watered down sweetened soy sauce. I think the liquidy yolk makes the broth taste better and cuts through the fish paste/sauce sweetness.

Next time I am going to leave out the mushrooms (or just leave a few little slices in) and the onions. I don't think they're bringing anything super great into things. But it's not bad.
That looks freaking amazing!!!!!!!

I keep seeing commercials for Burger King's new turkey burger and veggie burger and I really want to try them out. Also Wendy's chicken flatbread sandwiches...Need to not eat out, but want to try... XD

^ Ohh that looks incredible. What all did you use to stuff them with? I have a friend who stuffed hers with cheese, pineapple bits and bacon bits. They were amazing

I love stuffed burgers, I'd probably go overboard if I tried to make them though. I would end up sticking anything I could find in the fridge in there lol

Tried Burger King's veggie burger today, and it wasn't too bad. It's nice to see a fast food chain offer a veggie burger too. I would get it again, but want to try the turkey burger first.

Volunteered to make my friend a birthday cake this weekend. Apparently it's going to be an orange cake with a dark chocolate ganache frosting.

I have never made an orange cake before. I want it to be like a nice, moist, slightly dense, cake. Not like a lemon chiffon that tastes like orange. So I am considering taking my favorite yellow cake recipe and swapping out the vanilla extract with orange extract and putting some orange zest in and swapping some of the buttermilk with orange juice.

I'm worried it might be a little too orangy. Even if having an orange cake was the point.

Maybe I should only swap out half the vanilla extract for orange extract and half the buttermilk with orange juice.


I'm not really sure what I'm doing. It's a good thing I'm making a test cake on Monday, as a making lesson for a friend and also to see if the cake will taste good.
