Red face Richard from Looking for Group

Hey everyone!
I am brand new to cosplay (and sewing ^-^)

I will be doing two costumes and I have a little over 3 months. The first one will be for my 6'5'' husband. He wants to be Richard from looking for Group.

The mask, hands and such I can handle. The actual clothing *eek!*

I looked at some patterns but where do I start? I was thinking a long skirt and tunic but I don't see a similar enough design for the tunic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Attaching some great artwork that shows full body well.

Well, the bottom looks like a double layered a-line skirt, and there a plenty of patterns you can lengthen for him. You might be able to modify t shirt patterns for the tops. For the shoulder piece, look up Azula or Fire Nation cosplays from Avatar: The Last Airbender. You could probably use fabric covered craft foam or something, then add snaps or velcro to keep them together. Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck!
