One Piece Franky cosplay help? :3

I'm constructing a Franky 2 Years Later cosplay for later this summer and am looking for advice on some of his props. Reference pic! http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...ranky_Pose.png

For his arms, I was thinkin' of using cardboard to construct the box part of it. No idea how to make his hands. I've seen people use Hulk Hands, but I was maybe thinking making them out of foam. And the round shoulder things are confounding me.

Also, any tips for making myself seem as muscular as Franky? I've seen some people using muscle suits from costume stores, but most of them looked cheesy. Any ideas?

Thanks erryone! :3

Do the hands have to be functioning?

Nope, they don't have to function. I just want the hands to be in a fist for his pose in the reference pic.

Pink insulation foam.

If you're planning on making fists out of anything, that's your best bet. You can get it in home renovation stores like the Home Depot (where I get mine). You can cut it up, carve it and sand it down before coating it with a sealer such as Modge Podge. Definitely seal it with several layers of the stuff, because just the insulation foam itself will snap if you're too rough with it. Here's a reference pic of the fist I made for a costume using the same stuff:

Gorilla Glue is great for getting the pieces to stuck together, but make sure you sand the surface you're gluing--doesn't work well with smooth surfaces.

Hmm, pink insulation foam, eh? I'll look into that! :3

Does anyone have any opinions on me using a muscle suit for this cosplay? Should I get a store-bought or try and make my own?

I mean you could use a muscle suit but not a store bought one. Those look extremely fake and are meant to go under clothes not be open like what you need for this......

Yeah, I thought so. I guess I have to make my own then? ;_;. I have no idea how I would even start to do that, so I guess I'll have to do some googling.

There are some great tutorials out there so u won't b in too much trouble! There are a couple of different ways but the easiest will most likely be to build it out of furniture foam and liquid latex.
