OK so I've decided to try and go for Solf J. Kimblee as my next cosplay, and I want to try and make everything possible. I already have a fabric picked out for his purple tie, but I would like some opinions on what I would need for the suit jacket, pants, vest, sash/scarf thing, and overcoat. I don't plan on making the shoes, though. I think I've got the hat covered, too. I think I might just knit the scarf...

Here's a picture for reference

Also, I don't have much money right now, so it might have to be on the cheap side if possible.

I'm planning a Amy cosplay from Suisei no Gargantia in the future and was wondering if someone could help me out with choosing what to make her orange capelet, skirt, and top out of. I'm pretty sure I want to go with a yellow microsuede fringe for the trim and I'm wavering between painting on the triangle pattern or making it out of fabic.

All help is greatly appreciated

I'm planning on making this Zelda concept art cosplay for DragonCon, and I'm pretty set on everything but the hooded tunic. Realistically, it'd be made out of a nice felted wool or wool suiting. But it's Atlanta and it will be hot. Any other suggestions?

For some reason, other than finding the perfect colour, I think this would look nice in suedette or velvet, but I may be imagining that completely wrong, so opinions please Alternatve fabric suggestions are welcome too. I want somethng heavy, since it is basically a coat, but still fitted.

I don't have a reference, since this is from a Lego minifigure, but I'd like to cosplay Nya from Ninjago. She wears a red qipao with gold decals and white trimming.

I'm scouring local fabric shops but would love some opinions on this!

Hey look I'm back again with questions... haha I'm looking at raven from teen titans [url=http://images1.fanpop.com/images/photos/1600000/raven-3-teen-titans-1675009-1024-768.jpg]x[/ur;]
I was looking for something shiny/metallic/latex like kind of I really like the look of her fabric she used in the front.
Maybe like spandex or Stretch PVC? However I can't find it in that blue color, do you think its that color or the robe shes wearing and the color reflecting I would like to find a dark blue type if you know anyplace it would be extremely helpful

ALSO could I just coat it in liquid latex and paint it? Do you think that might be efficient? like this

maybe something like this but it seems not shiny enough/superhero look I'm going for

I figured I would try here, since it's technically a "What Fabric Should I Use" question -- I'm redoing my costume of Taokaka ( http://i43.tinypic.com/2z74lcn.png ). I have normally used Fleece in the past, which looks great and is best fitting... but most of the time/Conventions I'll be going to are during periods of hot weather. Unless I can somehow make it naturally fit in ice packs/fans, it's getting worse each year to try and wear it.

Basically -- What are suggested alternatives that have a similar look to Fleece, but are lighter and better suited for warmer temperatures?

I want to make a pleated skirt/dress thing and I wanted to know all of the possible fabrics I could use? This is my first sewing project and I am not too knowledgeable with fabric
Reference: http://moe.animecharactersdatabase.c...-246900398.jpg

Also, for kigurumis (they're pretty much onesie pajamas), I should use fleece or flannel, correct?

Rose

I'm wanting to make a Rose cosplay (Legend of Dragoon). What should I use to make the shirt, leggings, and skirt? I want it to be almost shiny (like leathery) and not a plain matte fabric.

So I'm doing a generic female Quarian from Mass Effect 3 for Gen Con this year:

http://troodon80.deviantart.com/art/...ence-270054353

I'm using this body suit as a base (once I actually buy it XD ) : http://www.dancewearsolutions.com/CL6550-Clearance.aspx

I'm wondering what type of fabric to use for the grey textured-looking bits on the chest/thigh areas? I honestly have no idea and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm planning on trying to cosplay Kyouko Kirigiri from Dangan Ronpa next year.
I'm having difficulty finding appropriate fabric for her jacket. It looks like pleather to me in this picture, but in her in-game artwork it looks more matte. Does anyone know of a website that sells dark purple apparel pleather or PVC by any chance? I've found appliance pleather in the right color, but that stuff isn't meant for clothes. And I don't want it to be super shiny like I've noticed some PVC is. Her boots are the same color as her jacket, so I need to make boot covers out of the same material.

Since it's matte in the sprite, I could get away with actual fabric (not for the boots though). What would be a good material for this jacket? Poly polin? Polyester crepe suiting? It'd be a loooot easier to sew this way. Or could microsuede work? I found a good color of microsuede and I assume it'd be easier to sew too.

Orrr.... if I were to commission only the jacket and boot covers from a user, any idea how much that would cost? Then they'd be stuck with the problem of hard-to-find purple pleather.
SHE HAS SUCH A COMPLICATED OUTFIT

I'd like to make Haruhi's (from Host Club) pink dress (from the beach episode), but I'm at a loss for fabric.

Ref pics: http://cosplay.charmedseed.net/chara...aruhi-girl.jpg

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lv...pwabo1_500.png

* Sorry about the 2nd one, it was the best picture I could find for the back view *

At first I thought to just go with plain old cotton (the kind everyone first learns on), but the more I looked at it, the less I thought it would work. The fabric needs to be heavy enough not to poof at the waist (all those ruffles would make cotton stick out everywhere), but light enough to still be summery.

I've considered a cotton jersey knit, but I think that would be TOO heavy for such a long dress. Ideas?

Hi! I've seen Taokaka done with a cotton or cotton/ Polyester blend twill before and the outcome was awesome. It's a bit more spendy but it has a nice weight to it and isn't quite as hot as fleece. (Hancock Fabric often has sales on twill ;3)

and in case I decide to go for the leather-ish look :

I was going to go for good ol' cotton but I'm not really sure what would be better. I suck at choosing the best fabrics :c
