Pig tail help

I'm wondering how I'd be able to make pigtails short and sort of puffy looking. I've got no experience with cutting and styling wigs, though.
The wig I'm getting is arda's chibi: http://arda-wigs.com/products/chibi

It depends on the exact style you want to go with. What the character/style your looking to do? images would help.
