Sniper Vest/Rifle Help
So I'm in the process of improving my Red Sniper cosplay and one of the snags I've hit (Aside from the cardinal sin of no rifle) was the vest. I had to use a regular suit vest I had lying around, but this time I want to have a more accurate vest. I have one of three options here: Either find a vest on eBay or a yard sale and modify it to my needs, find a pattern and make one myself, or commission one as a last resort. I don't want to do the latter simply because I want to have part of my costume to be done custom instead of having someone else do it for me. Thing is I'm a complete noob at sewing (I've only done basic handsewing at the moment) so if someone could point me in the right direction here I'd appreciate it.
I'd also appreciate some tips on the stock rifle. I have some basic components made (The skeleton of the scope, a butte, and a wooden rod as the barrel) but I need some pointers in terms of adhesives and paint (Primarily for the barrel and scope). The scope's skeleton is basically a Pringles can (It's the right size/scale) and I plan on using cardboard and paper mache for the details, while the barrel is again, a wooden rod. The butte is perfect as it is (Since it too is wood), just a bit of dremeling to fit the rod. I also want to try to implement a laser sight as well, and I have an idea on how to do it (Take a cheap laser pointer and resolder the wires to a switch) but no clue on how to implement it. Again, help is very much appreciated here.
And for giggles, hat ideas, aside from the stock hat (No Gibuses please)
