Question Utatane Piko outfit

Hello. I hope this is the right place to post for help on costumes for Vocaloids.

Anyway, I know this is a cosplay forum meant for real costumes, but I kind of need the same advice or references a cosplayer would need.
I'm making Piko's outfit in a 3D program, and have no idea how the back should look like. I assume the upper half would be ok to leave blank.

In particular I'm most concerned about the bottom half, like this metal thing on his upper hip that I drew an arrow at in this photo:

In some fan art, I see that metal piece either continues straight horizontally on the back and connects to the other side, and in some I see it has the same arch-shaped ending as the front on the back.
Is the case the same for the chunky metal thing under it as well?

Does anyone know if there's any official say on this, or is it something up to taste?
What would you suggest?
