Question Making HUGE edits to a pokemon?

So... I was wondering what to cosplay. I wanted something really complex that would be a challenge to make that would come out to be something really good. It seemed that the things with the most complex designs were from video games that I had never played before and I had kind of wanted something that I knew a little bit about.. Then it dawned on me! POKEMON. I decided to take a Pokemon (Jirachi) and just completely go all out with the design. Since it's a Pokemon, it HAS to be humanized to cosplay anyway. I know people have done design variations to Pokemon, and Jirachi, before but most stuck to the art style of Pokemon.. but I just decided to go and add a hell of a lot of details things like that. Like a prop and everything. The design still reflects Jirachi, the colors are the same of course and I'd still have the hat and things like that.. but I mean.. it would just be completely different from what anyone else has done before though.

Should I go ahead with this? I was thrilled with the idea before but now I'm just getting some second thoughts. Like I said, I'll still have the main defining features of Jirachi.. but the rest of the costume will be my interpretation of him/her... not really in the Pokemon style either.

.. What should I do! I just wanted to get a second opinion on it!

^ I second this! I design gijinkas and when I first started designing them I thought that I had to go by the design, but now I go all out. >:3

Thanks guys!! Good, I saw a lot of people going almost exactly with the design for gijinkas and I just didn't think it was as fun as going completely insane with it, but I didn't know if it was like, acceptable to do so! I'm totally going to go through with this!
