I have no idea what fabric to get for any of it. I need to order it online too as there are no fabric shops near my area so I HAVE to get it right. Any suggestions?
Wool. You can tell by the texture that outfit is definitely wool. Also, it's looks heavy (at least heavier than cotton and satin) when it moves. The white sleeves, ruffles, and such can be almost anything.

I would suggest a look through this girl's cosplay. She got the fabric near perfect and has tutorials of the entire process.

Maskerdashery, Chibialchemist7, and bluecious: I would suggest a suiting fabric. It has a fairly light feel to it, but still a sturdy look. the only problem you'll run into is that it doesn't com in a very wide variety of colors. So if that doesn't work, try a bottom weight. It doesn't feel as nice, but it's very sturdy.

I know Vocaloids are supposed to have a futuristic android type thing going on, but I have no idea how what to use for Piko's dress thing.

I'm a fan of the materials this person used for the outfit, especially the trim (that shine on the collar hnnngh). Can anyone tell what it's made of?

There seem to be a lot of types...

Which do you think would work best?

Thank you for the help!

Seconded. You can actually find wool type suiting that has the texture and appearance of wool, but isn't as ungodly hot as a pure wool dress would be. It pretty win / win.
But yeah, finding the right color could be pretty tough.

Long Coat

Hi folks, I'm looking to make a long coat in the style of Hellboy or Mad-Eye Moody (though I'm not specifically cosplaying either of them), but I haven't a clue what the fabric is, or there are any better alternatives. Suggestions? Pictures included.

Huge thanks, any help appreciated!

Like Maskerdashery said just after you, a wool blend would be nice and not nearly as hot as pure wool. The Crepe wool might also be nice. I haven't actually seen it, but I assume that would be even lighter. But you may want to go to a fabric store to feel what you like best even if you end up ordering online.

I'm clueless on McCoy's shirt as seen in Into Darkness here and here.

I know most people use some sort of wool/something printed on spoonflower but this shirt seems to either be that sort of thick sports fabric (jogging tops, etc) or scrub material?

Hey everyone! So for an upcoming convention this fall I plan on cosplaying Allen Walker from D.Gray-man and plan on cosplaying the casual version of him (vest, black pants, etc) Now, vests online are pretty expensive so I was thinking of just making it myself, but I have no idea what material it would be made from.

The Jacket. What is that.

One of Tyrion's outfits, from Game of Thrones. I don't even know where to start looking for fabric for it, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!!

A lot of the time you're not going to find exact matches for things from TV shows, because the shows will have their own fabrics made (I'm pretty sure GoT has). For that doublet, though, you may find something 'close enough' in upholstery fabrics -- they usually have the weight and texture that lends well to that sort of garment.

@Vanilla_Rose16: suitings are generally a good bet for vests -- look for a wool or poly gabardine (depending on budget) or something similar for the front. I forget if Alan's is constructed all in one fabric or if the back is a lighter material, but if it's lighter, a good-quality lining fabric might work there. Vests can be finicky to make; have you tried looking in thrift stores for one that you can use or alter?

@Yet Another: The reboot version looks like a sports knit -- I have a similar-looking fabric that's sold as Dryflex, but I'm sure there are a number of different varieties. The older one looks lighter and crisper, and the scrubs guess makes sense there -- the polycotton scrubs I'm wearing right now fall pretty similarly. XD Not sure if that helps any.

( I apologize just in case this happens to be a double post because my internet was acting up right as I tried to post the first time. )

I'm unsure of what kind of fabric to use for the jacket/coat whatever you want to call it and the pants. I've seen pleather done for him before and I really don't like how it looks.

Does anyone hopefully have some suggestions?

This is a picture of the characters from W.I.T.C.H.

They all look to be made out of the same thing, so it shouldn't be any different for any of the characters.

What fabric would you use for the clothes, and what would you do about the stockings? Please and Thank You
