I'm so jealous that you went to Katsucon. I am hoping to go next year. As for Kasuga I can't offer much help. I'm not the best at sewing. The hardest project I have done so far is sewing Yukimura's jacket for a friend. If it were me I would probably just alter some legings or something. I am not familiar with the outfit you are talking about though. I haven't had a chance to play the games. I have the 3rd one but life has been crazy.

Though here is the progress on my friends Yukimura jacket. I have attached the studs on one sleeve, still need to do the black on the bottom of both sleeves and attach the studs to the other sleeves, the coins on the back, and the top stitch on all of it.

Other than that I got my chain-mail for Date and hope to have updated pictures soon.

I finished watching the two seasons of Sengoku Basara with my friend some few days ago. Now I want to cosplay Masamune and Hanbei, sweet.

Although I have no clue when I'll have time to do them. I must say it's tempting to go to Animecon in Kuopio (Finland) though because I heard there will be a big Basara group there. The problem is that the train tickets there and back would cost me about 120 €... damn.

I got some shots of my updated Date. Though currently I am working on improving it again. I'm making a new helmet, bracers, shin armor, and general touch ups for Fanime. Here is the few full body shots I can find

Anything I could improve? Other than the helmet, arm bracers, and shin armor.

Ooh, I really like it! And those 'battle damages' makes it look even more cooler!
I'm sorry I can't come up with anything you could improve, it looks so good already.
By the way, how did you attach your swords to your costume and keep them spread out like that? I really like how you did it.

And it seems my armor!Date cosplay will be done sooner than I had thought! Last week I found out there's going to be a Finnish Sengoku Basara group year 2013 at a con, what con is currently undecided. The taken characters so far are Oichi, Matsu, Takeda, Nobunaga, Motonari, Keiji and me as Date. My best friend is doing Matsu (but she might change to Katakura) and my other friend is Keiji. I'm very surprised we have some rare characters but no Yukimura yet. XD I hope we'll find a Yukimura cosplayer, would be really nice to take some fighting shots.

Currently I'm trying to brainstorm ideas what to make the armor out of. I've never made armor before so this will be quite a challenge. Maybe craft foam...
I want to do the game version because it's a bit more detailed and I want to use chain mail. xD What's funny is that this is also my big "project work" for school, hehehe.

I used magnets to attach the swords to the costume and just used super glue to keep the swords apart. Then I attached the string around them so that helps as well.

Woah, magnets. o.o Didn't even think about that, that's really smart!

They stay in place really well. I have a studded blet that I wear under the jacket and anchor one magnet on to that and the other is on one set of swords and I attach it over the jacket. If I don't use the belt it weighs the jacket down too much.

After procrastinating forever on Masamune I have finally put a deadline on finishing him for Närcon (25-28 July) or -if that's impossible- then Tracon in September.

I have the coat done and some other stuff and I've recently started working on the swords. I really hope it's all gonna work out well.

If anyone is interested my progress can be followed here:

Greetings gang. I haven't yet finished reading this entire thread, but I intend to. Even if it is a few years. I'm putting together a summer cosplay project for Date Masamune. He's become a favorite of mine since I began Sengoku BAsara: Samurai Heroes a week or so ago. Biggest challenge I see is a reliable and easy way to attach the 6 swords to Date. Any creative solutions out there?

I don't know if you still need the advice after all this time, but... what about a hidden belt? I mean a hardcore belt that supports the weight of the swords, that you wear your ornamental belt over the top of. Of course the hidden belt would have to have some sort of straps to hang the sheaths from (which the sheaths would hide most of anyway), but that's just part of the fantasy vs cruel reality of the design.
