[Sailor Mars] Tips on how to make an archery bow of fire?

Hi! I was planning on making a Sailor Mars cosplay and I have almost everything mapped out but felt a bit bare without a weapon (^.^) Instead of the regular pen/wand, I wanted to try making the "Mars Flame Sniper" bow!
---
So do you guys have any tips for creating the fire? Do you think a series of feathers would look neat? I looked around on google images and found this. Any idea as to what those decals (?) are made of? It looks magnificent! Any other options are also welcome! Thank you :3

Feathers could work really well. You would want to get the longer ones as opposed to the fluffy ones though. The bow you linked to looks like it's made from thin sheets of colored plastic, like the kind they make plastic folder/dividers from. You could also experiment with cellophane. If you crumpled and crinkled it you could probably get something that looks pretty cool

I really admire Kapalaka's Sailor Mars cosplay, and she has a great close-up shot of her flame bow. I'm a really terrible judge of material, so I have no idea what she used for her bow. It looks like it *could* be cellophane. It's possible, but I don't know. XD

Good luck!!

I would also suggest cellophane to give it a 'crackly' feel of fire.
If not, tulle would be another alternative.

I second cellophane wrapped over a string of LEDs/ELwire to produce a glow

Hahaha I'm very flattered, thank you for the mention.

And indeed, I used cello wrap for my bow! It is very easy to work with and holds up great after a convention. I'd recommend using a good base structure, though. Wood, cardboard, plexiglass, it doesn't really matter what as long as it is sturdy. You can cover the heck out of it with heated cello wrap and it's impossible to tell what the base material is.
