HOMESTUCK: Final fantasy-stuck Jade help ;n;

Hello, Looney here (ignore my screen name sweet babies I was all angsty when I made this account). Hopefully I'm not asking too much :/

Wow, sorry, probably no one knows what this is. Final fantasy-stuck, or squarestuck, is not really an AU. It's some character designs by artist Kadi Fedoruk (

here are the only two refference images available for the character (I've taken a big challenge on, but I think I can do it. Brace yourselves):

So I have a basic idea of how to do things like the cape, the crinoline, the smaller skirt thing over the actual skirt (how to speak), the chain and space clip thing (once again, how to speak), the waist cincher/girdle, and the shirt. I'm at the moment working on making mock-ups of everything.

I have a general idea for the skirt and the hood, but one thing about the skirt escapes me. I'm trying my best to ruche it, make it look like the image and keep it spacious enough to be able to fit in a crinoline (I'm using a shortend version of this pattern: Also, I'm having trouble with the ruffles... ANY HELP AT ALL AND I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW

Also, the hood... I've seen a few tutorials, but I haven't really understood any of them...
Anyone have advice?
I created this account during my angst-y teenage years -_-" just call me Looney, okay?
