I've been working on my Prince Gumball cosplay (here's a ref), and here's what the costume looks like so far. I currently have every fabric, except for the purple one, because I don't know what to use. I need something that would fit in with the rather thick fabrics I'm using (I considered fleece but it'd be too hot), something that wouldn't be too heavy, and something that would take well to lights. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Hello! Sorry if this question was asked already.
I'm looking for some kind of stretchy fake leather material for my Penelo cosplay. I only need stretch stuff for the blue part of her jumpsuit and this costume here looks like it's what I want (except without sheen)

Anyone know what exactly it's called? Thanks!

That's not good. Since gabardine is 100% polyester, it's basically impossible to dye. If you really can't find it, I'd say try twill instead. It weighs a little more and is more likely to wrinkle, but it's just as durable (if not more) and since it's 100% cotton, you should be able to dye it if you need to.

Ah damn..lol Maybe if I go to other stores..Like another fabric store..If there is one..If not, then I can go the twill way. Thank you

Hello everyone! /waves to all
So I am attempting to cosplay Her Imperious Condescension from the web comic Homestuck by Andrew Hussie. Please don't kill me. Hehe I know there is a lot of controversy over this comic. If you want my reason for this cosplay please just ask.
Below is a link to the main reference I have been pulling from.
http://s950.photobucket.com/user/Att...lydke.png.html

I have done some research and I have found that a Lycra fabric is similar to a wet suit without the insulation which is exactly what I want. However, I would like to know what types of Lycra are out there and which would benefit me the most in making this outfit? My sewing skills are limited but I am willing to work hard and go the extra mile to make this work. I appreciate all of your help, patience, and time.

I have been struggling finding a suitable material for Suicide Squad Harley's outfit. I would like for the corset, the shorts, and the arm warmers to all be the same material. Yet finding a material that I can easily use for all 3 is the hardest part.

I would love another opinion on what I should use. I don't really care about comfort or complications. I'm more concerned about look and price. I don't want to use latex if it'll look tacky, but I feel just plain fabric, by my poor sewing skill, would fit poorly.

Can anyone help? :c I'm so unsure, lol.

I'm going to be cosplaying as Suiseiseki for the next con. Sui is a doll, so she should look almost fake (but not costume-y).

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/...seiseki4zt.png

I thought about using velvetine, to get the doll-ish feel, but it's too shiny for my taste. Regular cotton fabric is too thin and doesn't look right.

I have the fabric for the black corset part, it's the main green fabric that is killing me. I think I can find something for the white parts (just about any linen will do).

Any ideas? I shopped around Hancocks this morning with no success.

@Senevilla: I'm no expert, but cotton sateen is really gorgeous, and dyeable.

Hello lovelies~! I've made a few costumes in the past, nothing too huge, and now I've decided to go a tad more elaborate, hoping to possibly enter a cosplay show? Anyways. How would you go about doing this one?

I'm thinking maybe a dull satin for the white parts, but I'm not too sure on the pink parts...

It IS so pretty... I want to wrap myself in it! But it's too shiny. I'd rather a matte fabric with some weight to it.

Hi, I have been challenged to cosplay Mordred from BBC's Merlin and any suggestions for any of the fabrics I could use would be a great help.

Looks to be suede for the coat, with fur lining maybe or just edging. The vest looks to be leather, the rest looks to be wool maybe.

Brushed cotton? I'm not familiar with what one can find in brick-and-mortar fabric shops these days (mine are all too far away), but something like a brushed twill/denim (or even just a brushed poplin if you want lighter-weight) might give you an echo of velveteen without the shiny factor.

Are cotton velveteens specifically too shiny for you? I've always thought of them as appropriate for Rozen Maiden, and not too shiny unless a flash is hitting them -- and with the short pile, there isn't even a great deal of sheen then.
